Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

hi there, how much is the payment for requesting Certificate of Good standing from PRC ? thanks!!

Hello there ncx23xcn! :D I've been assisted by my agency all throughout the application process. I just sent in all the documents they needed and they did most of the work. Yup, you should take IELTS first before anythin' else; it's one of the requirements I believe.

I'm actually from Mindanao (Surigao del Sur). But I studied in Cebu. After passing the board exam, I went back to my hometown and worked as a staff nurse in our provincial hospital. I am currently working as a medical records retrieval technician here in Cebu so I kind of spent the last 10 years of my life in the city. :) Have you been here? :D

Anyway, I suggest you start working on your application. I've heard Australia is very much open to hiring overseas nurses and that they're not very "strict" with the application. :D Feel free to ask questions. I will try my very best to answer them. :)

By the way, I just got accepted at IHNA and I'm just waiting for the offer letter. :D God bless to all of us! :D

Hi Soulkisser! Thank you for replying to my post. I haven't started with anything yet actually. I researched first some potential schools and attended some seminars here in Makati regarding taking up the bridging program at Australia. A year back I was really considering UniSA's ARNTP program that's why I'm currently working on getting my 2 years experience requirement. Not until just this recent that I saw the potential of IHNA and LaTrobe with this course.

If you don't mind, how did you go by with processing your APHRA? Did you take your IELTS first before sending your documents to APHRA? Also, did you process thru with IDP or just did it yourself? :)

I'm born and raised here in Quezon City...but Cebu is my Dad's hometown. Which part of Cebu are you from? :)

Hi Soulkisser, sorry to barge in like this, I hope you won't mind. I'm from Cebu too. I hope you'd be able to share some information with the application process. I have my IELTS requirement, and I'm still working on my documents to be sent to AHPRA. Which state did you applied for? Do you know which has the fastest processing time for now? By the way, I'm looking for schools that don't require the 2 years experience, do you know of any?

Any input is very much appreciated :)

Hi there ncx23xcn!

I believe you need to have your IELTS requirement first. I was advised to by IDP to have this ready so that I can lodge my application to AHPRA. Hope we can help each other out, it seems like we're on the same boat :)

GOD bless us all!

Hi lil_lilo! Wow, we must have bumped into each other during sinulog! :D Anyway, I lodged my application in AHPRA, Victoria last October. I had an issue on a particular subject (Mental Health Nursing) in college so my school had to write a letter mentioning that we undertook that subject. Anyway, my application went smoothly after that, Thank God! I got my LOE last December. I really don't have any idea regarding the time frame but it was mentioned in their website that application process takes 4-6 weeks. I got my LOE a little more than a month. I've read from someone else's post in this thread that Latrobe and Deakin do not require their students to have any experience but I strongly recommend for you to at least have one year working experience. It may be hard for to find an employer after the bridging program. :)

Which college school are you from, by the way? I'm from SWU. :D

anybody here tried calling the PLDT Premium number for the Australian Embassy? :)

hi ceridwyn!

I don't think I will go for ETEA. They have interviewed me 3 months ago and I was told to wait for the offer letter, turned out they are still processing their accreditation with AHPRA the last time I checked.

Why not? ETEA's accreditation is already approved for three years. :)

Hello guys!

I am for IHNA Perth, March intake. Do I still need a meninggo vaccine? In the vaccination form it says : Meningococcal vaccine (for Nurse West Agency nurses only).. Im just confused. Thanks :D

anybody here for CON or Australian College of Nursing April 2013 intake? :)

hi qymburlee! my friend is for ACN April 2013.. how is their accreditation status?

Hi everyone! I really hope that someone can help with my questions. I got my LOE last november and I just got off from a long 'decision-making' on whether to push through with this or not. Anyhow, im beginning to look into ACN, I got a look at their website and here are my questions:

1. how much is the application fee? (the total cost is $10,000, but how about the application fee?)

2. if i apply via e-mail, would it be okay if i send the scanned original documents or should i rather scan certified true copies?

3. do i need the immunization? and if i do, how did you guys do it?? i mean, the im asking the doctors about the certification of 'immunization' and they've no idea how to format the certification.

4. for the criminal record, is the NBI clearance good enough?

thank you so much! I've bookmarked this article and I'm really hoping someone can help!:)

Hi lil_lilo! Thank for placing your input in our small discussion here. :) Yeah, sounds like a great idea..let's help each other out. So, where do you plan to lodge in your application, i mean..what schools? also, have you done your IELTS and AHPRA papers already? :) godbless!

I'm currently reviewing for my IELTS exam but the slots are tight. All that they have now is a slot on March and April exams. How did your IELTS exam went before? Did you attend a review center for it?

Really? Nice. Yup, I've been to Cebu almost every summer of my childhood years. The place is great. Our place is at the city enter in Mabolo so the feel is kindof Manila-ish but with less pollution. :)

So what i'm planning to do is to get over and done with the IELTS thing and then after which I'd start processing my APHRA. An IDP Consultant said that before seeking their services, I should already have my APHRA letter sent..so that's kindof still is the problem. :)
