Bridging Program in Australia

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hi Soulkisser! Thank you for replying to my post. I haven't started with anything yet actually. I researched first some potential schools and attended some seminars here in Makati regarding taking up the bridging program at Australia. A year back I was really considering UniSA's ARNTP program that's why I'm currently working on getting my 2 years experience requirement. Not until just this recent that I saw the potential of IHNA and LaTrobe with this course.

If you don't mind, how did you go by with processing your APHRA? Did you take your IELTS first before sending your documents to APHRA? Also, did you process thru with IDP or just did it yourself? :)

I'm born and raised here in Quezon City...but Cebu is my Dad's hometown. Which part of Cebu are you from? :)

Anyone enrolled for ETEA for courses for the rest of the year 2013, say March, April, May, June, July, August, etc. I see they had courses in December and January.

I don't think I will go for ETEA. They have interviewed me 3 months ago and I was told to wait for the offer letter, turned out they are still processing their accreditation with AHPRA the last time I checked.

That's great news. Hopefully you receive your visa on time. My visa took some time because some documents got lost but as long as all your documents are complete you can get your visa in 3-6 weeks time. Once they advise you to have your medicals the usual waiting period is about 1-2 weeks if it hasn't changed.

About my BP, it was good. It wasn't hard. It's just that the clinical placement was a bit challenging, being in a new environment at all but once you get used to it, everything will go smoothly. But really, you will enjoy the BP in CON. :)

I am currently waiting for my 457 visa. Hopefully all things go well :)

I am new here in allnurses.com but I have been reading a bit of the thread. I am taking my briging program this coming May in Perth. I am unsure about the visa sponsorship after. How did you find your employer? Did you go through an agency?

Who processed your working visa?

Hello there! Do you have eligibility letter from AHPRA yet? I just received mine last December 2012. I am currently applying for a bridging program course in UNISA, IHNA and Alpine Health. I'm still waiting for the offer letter from either of these schools. I'm from Cebu, by the way! :)

I have my IELTS requirement, and I'm still working on my documents to be sent to AHPRA. Which state did you applied for? Do you know which has the fastest processing time for now? By the way, I'm looking for schools that don't require the 2 years experience, do you know of any?

I believe you need to have your IELTS requirement first. I was advised to by IDP to have this ready so that I can lodge my application to AHPRA. Hope we can help each other out, it seems like we're on the same boat :)

The two universities, Latrobe and Deakin, do not require their students to have any experience and the Australian College of Nursing (CON) requires 1 year experience, all the rest are 2 years, unless of course ETEA gets going again and they required no experience -

The biggest problem however will be finding an employer for you to stay and work with not much experience.

That sounds great! Yeah, finding an employer requires a lot of patience but I'm sure you will find an employer. I found my employer by applying online until I was called for an interview. No, I did it on my own. My employer was the one who processed everything.

just scan all the documents needed bacause you will be applying online, and so you will submit all those in online too.. goodluck

Actually, im done with the enrollment already and my next move now is for my visa processing but i might do it sooner.

I did not have an agent, i did it on my own.:)

HI!! i have heard about the nurses bridging program in australia.. ive read forums about it as well and i have known i have to submit some files to AHPRA to see if im eligible for registration or if i should take the bridging program first.. so my questions are here:

1. what files should i submit to AHPRA?

2. how could i submit the files? through mail courier? or through online?
