Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Good day everyone! I have back read everything in this thread and I have just something to ask for clarification.

I am aware that I need to score 7 in IELTS, apply APHRA and find a school for the bridging program for nurses,

What type of visa do I need to apply that is applicable for my purpose there (456, 575, student visa or some other)?

After I finish the bridging program and get a certification and proceed to working, do i need to kind of "upgrade" my visa?

TIA!

PS:

By the way, I have an aunt there who could help with my stay. Maybe it can help with the visa or something.

What's the difference with the ARNTP and bridging program? Are they the same thing?

You do not just update your visa, you apply for another, either by sponsorship by an employer that cannot find a local for a full time position for up to 4 years, though during this time you can be changed to a more permanent visa, or you apply for a permanent resident visa, this will need at least 3 years of experience in your own country to qualify.

The difference between each of the programs for overseas nurses that you ask, is that the ARNTP is a longer course than the usual bridging program, costs more, but you do not need for a first assessment by AHPRA. The short bridging course needs assessment by AHPRA then bridging then registration as a nurse.

Thanks for the reply.

When I get my LOE from AHPRA and find a school for the bridging program, what type of visa would be most applicable to get?

Good day NURSES!

I am a registered nurse in the Philippines, and I am planning to become a registered nurse in Australia soon. But I have this huge confusion on whether to take a bridging program for 3 months or enroll in a university with pre-registration entry and study for 1 year. This will both lead me to become eligible to register as a nurse in Australia. Some of my friends are suggesting to take the bridging program for 3 months but I am a little scared thinking that I won't be able to see an employer that would sponsor my working visa after the 3 months bridging program. On the other hand studying for a year would be a long time for me to seek for an employer to sponsor my working visa. Please help me guys. I need some enlightenment through your suggestions. Which one should I take, which one is better? Thank you very much, and I am hoping to hear soon from you guys.

ohh sorry, not yet.. i've been waiting for the call this week but my agent said they didn't push through with calling other applicants as well. they might resume next week. my friend who's now starting her bp at IHNA told me it's more on personal experience in the hospital, and the like. i think this interview will just make the application formal. if an applicant really has an experience working, it won't be such a big deal at all, i think. :) so guys, let's just relax and not be anxious. we can beat this interview. :)

Hi bigbrowneyes,

How was your interview? Have you received the outcome yet?

Hi, I'm about to start the online course for IHNA. Is there anyone here who was already done with this? I need some guidance regarding the enrollment process and online course just to make sure that everything will go smoothly. If there is someone who can help me out, please let me know asap. It will be highly appreciated. Thanks fellow nurses!

Which intake are you for?

I am for the March 2013 intake and just enrolled today. I am awaiting my confirmation of admission.

If you haven't enrolled yet, IHNA will email you their offer letter along with other documents. They will email you separately an invoice which you will need to pay the enrollment fee online. It's fairly easy, you just follow their instructions included in their communication. I registered for the online course myself but couldn't get access yet. I emailed IHNA and this is what they said:

Your enrolment fee payment of 1500 AUD is towards e-learning and seat confirmation at IHNA. Once your payment is reflected in our account, you will receive an invoice receipt from our accounts department. This receipt has to be send to us. We shall forward it to the e-learning department and they will be providing you with the e-learning access. This amount of 1500 AUD is inclusive in the total course fee of 12,500 AUD.

The online learning has to be completed before the commencement date of the program. It is to facilitate you with the Australian Health practises prior to the course.

Hope this helps.

Hi!

Have you done the IHNA Bridging Program already? Which intake are you for? I'd like to ask for any kind of information anyone has on what the bridging program is like at IHNA.

Thank you!

hello thai-midwife in aus! how was the interview? what were the type of questions they threw? is it really based on experience? my interview is set tomorrow afternoon. i hope we can get a slot at AAON.

Hi Bigbrowneyes,

I just called AAON today asking about my interview result. The lady said I passed the interview and just needed to wait for the offered letter which will be sent to my home address. In your case it will be sent to your agency. They will not inform you through email now. They will have 2 slots of this year, October and December. She said the Octobet intake is now full, I probably get into December one. This week they are sending the letters to overseas applicants and next week will be on shore' turn. Let me know your result and keep in touch in case we are in the same slot then we can share accommodation.
