Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hi everyone! I hope someone can help enlighten me on what to do next. I received my LOE last month and I’m now looking into schools that I can enrol in. My first choice is IHNAin Perth since this is where my siblings live and obviously would save some cost on accommodation if I were to take up my BP there. Well, my problem now is that I don’t have the 2-year experience that this school requires and that will happen only in October this year. (I guess I applied too early with AHPRA.) The school will only accept me if I have the 2-year experience certificate which I can submit by October 2013. Unfortunately, my LOE will expire mid-February 2014 which will mean cutting it too close to the deadline considering the VISA application will take 1-3 months processing (as per inquiry at VIA Center). Evenif a slot is given to me during the January 2014 intake, I will still not be able to complete the BP by the February deadline. I asked AHPRA for an extension as early as now, but was turned down. My question is,

Is it possible to withdraw my Application for Registration with AHPRA now and get some kind of refund for the “registration fee” part and hopefully reapply to AHPRA in July or August this year to fit my timetable? I was thinking, even if Ihave to pay the AHPRA fees again, it will still be much cheaper than spending around AU$3-5K for accommodation if I go to another state.

I would really appreciate your inputs guys. Thanks in advance.

I emailed AHPRA a request for extension of validity last March 4 thru their web enquiry and also sent my case officer a copy of the letter. I got my reply today, March 6.

Hi Ely_ana,

Wow! You got a reply in just 2 days? That was really fast. I applied at AHPRA WA. I am still waiting for their reply. So what was their reply to your request? Did they grant you an extension?

Which ahpra state did you request for an extension? I had mine in qld, got a reply in two days.

Hi there annie_v2g,

I would like to ask what was their reply to you. Did they grant you an extension?

Is there anyone here who is for May intake of Mercy Health Training Institute? I am currently looking for accommodations near that school which is located in Parkville, Melbourne. If there is someone who knows of one, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Hi sbeattrix,

Yes. Thank you so much. I really did not expect it. I woke up so early yesterday around 6 am to check emails. I got the email around 6:15 am and was super elated. Such great news to start the day with yesterday. God is indeed great and I feel so blessed.

The end of the course date is 18 July. Just 2 days after my LOE expires (16 July). I already emailed my case officer about this one. Hope to have her reply today so I can start with the payment and visa processing.

I think it's wise grab the Alpine Health. It's really hard to secure a slot especially if the provider is a hospital since the number is very limited (mostly 12 and below per intake) unlike with universities that they can accommodate more than 25. I suggest you talk with someone who's for Alpine Health also and maybe you both can share accommodations.

Thanks for your advise Lani_g...and i'm so very happy for you. even if i won't be classmates with you, i'll see you around in australia! praying for the best for all of us.;-)

Miss Lani_g, I sent you a message in facebook. Hope you could reply!;-)

Hi to all fellow nurses!

Submitted my docs to CON and to Castlemaine Health, now waiting for their updates. would be extremely happy to share the information......

By the way, after almost 2 months no reply from CON yet...

Hi Iam new here..just wanna know if i need to redo my IELTS if it expires after getting my decision letter from AHPRA? Wrote twice but could not score individual 7. Got 6.5 in writing . Is it necessary to have individual 7 for BP?

I would be more concerned about getting a positive assessment from AHPRA which you will not do if you do not have all individual scores of 7. aHPRA also want a current IELTS for registration after BP.

Hi lani_g85,

I was not granted an extension since I just got my LOE and I was just replying to their 14-day deadline if I agreed to the one-year LOE validity. They said they will only grant extensions in "extreme circumstances". BTW, I did this in AHPRA WA (same as you did) but maybe your concern is considered "extreme". Keep your hopes up!
