Hello, everyone. I'm an RN from Israel. Applied for KY, cause was supposed to study there for MA, passed NCLEX-RN, and have their lycense. KY university program was closed, so I moved to CA and applied for license by endorsement three weeks ago. Today I checked and my name was on BON!!!!

Has anyone experienced the concurrency issue when endorsing a license from another state to California?
Last August 23, I sent my application by endorsement to CA BON... 19 days after, I received a letter from my analyst asking me the following.. a.) Copy of Clinical Cases and b.) Related Learning Experience Clinical Logbook.. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of this anymore, my school doesn't have a copy of my cases anymore.. I don't know what to do

    Hi irah

If you don't have any of these, I suggest you apply to another state because CA will never give you an ATT. They need those to make sure your cases are concurrent.

I am licensed in Florida, but I am here in California.. I understand, that's what I have been trying to work out in my school right now. I just have some copy of my clinical cases. But not all of it.

They need to process it first before taking people's money, it aint right!!! Im so annoyed and frustrated by whats been happening.. And i applied at arizona so i guess itll be the same.. Theyll take my money and tell me that im not eligible!

Sorry to hear about that, but this is why I've posted so many times that once you submit any information with the fees, it is NON-REFUNDABLE, whether or not, the application is accepted, rejected or denied.

Yes, there are many others here who also failed the NCLEX, then upon the re-application process, they too were found not meeting the CA BRN requirements.

Each and every re-application is subject to new review as if applying for the first time, but this also goes with any and all applicants, be a CA nurse, out of state or international.

The thing is no one reads or bothers with the Nursing practice act or in the codes, but it's all there. I had a batchmate who complained LOUDLY and this is what she was told. It's not they are not disclosing it openly, but they have rightfully posted for all to read.

With regards to AZ, it's a known concurrency state, but not actively enforcing it, but can so at any time. There have been a few recent ones that have been given the ATT go ahead.

But just don't try to get the AZ license or any other state's license then try to endorse back into CA, as you will again LOSE the application/endorsement fees until your transcripts comply with the deficiencies as required by the CA BRN.

This is also why I have said so many times, that to get your RN license in the state where you plan to plant your roots, buy a house or condo, where you will watch your babies and kids go to school till college age, outside of the strict concurrent enforcing states.

I have to call you out on this. First do your homework. With BON posting their requirement online, there should be no excuse for not knowing what you applied for.

Second, of course the BON will take your money and they have a right to do so. Once you send in your application, it will be processed by the staff at BON. You know these employees get paid. Every application they received and process takes x amount of man hours which cost us taxpayers. The BON is funded by our tax dollars to provide service to us. So you over there in another country complaining about the non refundable fees should take a deep breath and see the big picture.

This is for every kababayans and to any other foreign applicants, based on some recent postings, some have gotten into AZ and IL, these same current listed ones are known states with the concurrency rules, but not (yet) enforcing them, but can do so tomorrow or at anytime in the future.

These are NOT new rules or regulations, just decades old, but on the books and works for the States. Any international schools must present the same sort of standard transcripts so that they comply within same square holes.

It's their territory, so we all have to deal with it and it applies any AND all US citizens and everyone not born in the States AND it applies to any and all US schools and colleges as well as any and all international schools and students and nurses, it is NOT discrimination as several internationals have stated.

Ok off my soapbox. back to your comments.

As I have said so many times, DON'T worry about what state requires the local country's nursing copy or about taking English proficiency exams or having your courses evaluated. Your first and foremost answer to your "which state" is best......it's the State you wish work, practice, raise your babies ad look to buy your first house in.

Forget about most of the endorsement tactics of getting a license from one state that was the "easiest, fastest and cheapest" state to then endorse over into the state they really wanted to get into and in many cases, to AVOID either the concurrency rules OR to not take the various English exams and pass them OR to have their courses reviewed under the microscope OR to not have to present the local country's nursing license copy and numbers.

What happens to those trying this only find themselves STUCK with an out of state license that they never had any intention to stay and work in, find the job market there is pretty bad etc., then start to complain and whine about trying to endorse into a state was not going to approve the application in the first place and waste more time and money. This is all totally avoidable and no one to blame but themselves, if they will admit it. Yes, I know it's worth a try, but don't come back and make a stink.

That's why I always say, make sure the state you get your license in IS where you will immediately start looking for a job, not try to "beat the system" to work in another state, hoping your out of license will be quickly endorsed over to your first desired state (outside of the enforcing concurrent ones).

Make a list of those states, then GOOGLE that state's BON (or go to the list below for the State's information and read and PRINT out under each state's requirements for INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS, it's all there! 90% of your questions are right there and really, it takes but 45 minutes if that to understand and fill out or to start gathering information needed by the individual state.

Take each item line by line or by number item and across them out or circle them if you can't fill them out yet and you can line them out later.

In doing so, if you find one or two of the minimum requirements you don't like for whatever reasons, then scratch that state off your list and move on the next one. Easy peasy.

Back to tinne2013 question, as of this press time, lol, the only non-enforcing concurrent Western (coastal) states are AZ, OR and WA (but there have been a few posters who were denied in WA and same had no problems, it all depends on how your transcripts is filled out and then reviewed.

To tinnex2013, would you say with 100% assurance that maybe you did ALL your clinicals AND theory courses, all within the same semester, not months before or after and certainly not a year or two later? If you feel you did so, then, you may have met the concurrency rules and worth to try in CA, knowing if denied or rejected, any and all fees are not going back to you.

Hi! This is good news!! I was reading all this thread and I am so scared because of the problems the nurses from the Philippines are facing when they applied for CA license. I too am an RN from Hawaii and have been working for Kaiser Permanente hospital for 12 years as an OR nurse. I wanted to apply for California license by endorsement because there's a lot of Kaiser hospitals there coz the Kaiser hospital here in Hawaii has cut my hours due to budget issues. Sigh....
