Shadowing for np job

Has anyone ever been asked to job shadow after a initial interview. They will pay me for time and travel to do this. On one hand I think it's a great way to make sure it's a good fit, on the other hand I'm thinking my experience and references should speak for itself. Thoughts please.

Specializes in Adult Internal Medicine.

It's a great practice prior to offering/accepting a position. Many large employers, especially retail health, will require it.

I think it's wonderful to shadow first. Every place is different. I'm so glad that I shadowed with two different providers (same type of job, different companies). One was a much better fit for me.

I agree with the others. I shadowed a prospective employer at their request and was so glad I did. By lunch time, I realized the fit was all wrong for me and, courteously, I left by noon. No guilt on myself nor the employer.

Specializes in allergy and asthma, urgent care.

It's a great idea. It gives both parties an opportunity to see if the job is a good fit.
