Research in advanced practice roles?

I'm applying to BSN/NP programs from a field which essentially was research-based (behavioral biology), and I was curious if NPs played a role in research? Can you be involved in research as you're practicing, or is it really not part of your scope of practice?

That is entirely up to the individual. I've known APNs with positions that consisted almost entirely of research, and others who were happy to never think about it again once they finished school. You can seek out the positions and roles that appeal to you.

Absolutely agree - you can generally be as involved in research as you want to be.

The posters above are right - there are so many opportunities that you can often carve out a niche for yourself in what you want to do.
