REALLY annoyed with AANP!

Hi all---I sent my application to test (Adult NP) to the AANP back in early November and STILL have not been approved. I called, and they said that my application was complete but that for 'some reason' it hadn't been approved yet. I'm so so so annoyed--I've been offered an ARNP job and obviously need to take my exam first. They cashed my check (about $400) and weeks and weeks later, I'm still waiting. SO frustrating! I call a couple of times each week and have e-mailed too. Has this happened to anyone else?

It looks like they have bad BBB record also, but it does appear that a couple of people were able to resolve their issues by filing a complaint with the BBB. http://centraltx.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Rep...825&firm=58494

I would go ahead and file a BBB complaint at the very least it should get a review of your paperwork by the AANP.

Interesting--I hate to file a BBB complaint, but if I don't hear back from them in the next week I may. I'm waiting on a job, and have been waiting months to certify. It's just beyond ridiculous, especially given that they took my money! Argh!

Goodluck getting response from AANP. It is 2 years since I applied, sent several e-mails, made atleast 100 phone calls with abosolutely no success. Finally reported to BBB, can you believe AANP didn't even respond to BBB requests. I think the problem is with the head of the department Jane Towers, she spoke to me around 18 months ago, I submitted everything they asked for. The only thing I am asking for at present is to deny me and return my fee, they are still not responding. Any suggestions please. I am planning to talk to a lawyer this week.

I sent mine both CERT mail, AANP asked for "clarification" on my women's health, which delayed the process for a couple of weeks (weird?). However...

I took ANCC 22 Jan, AANP 12 Feb. Of course, got results from both on the spot. I heard from AANP in five weeks, I have yet to hear from ANCC. AANP got me my state license in <24hrs, ANCC still has not sent the state anything. My AANP certificate is on my wall, framed and I have no idea where my ANCC certificate is! So, I can't complain about AANP!

Yeah..that's really unusual...I'm certified thru the AANP and there were no delays that I can remember...I would persistenly call .....make sure you get a concrete answer why your application is in limbo

Doesn't the testing window end April 30th? I hope they give you the OK to test soon. If not will they let you roll over into the next testing window?

Congrats on the job offer! I am afraid I will be working as an RN until I retire since NP jobs are so scarce in my area

I submitted my FNP paperwork to them in May and I didn't hear a word from them, even though everyone in my class did! I called, e-mailed, sent faxes every single day! Finally, I got the clearance to take the exam a few days before the "window" closed in August.

One of my former professors had to wait ten months before taking the exam, which was absolutely ridiculous. The AANP is notorious for screwing up, so that's why I advise people to apply for both AANP and ANCC. You can always cancel one if you pass the other one and get all but about $100 of your money back...well worth the cost!

Good luck! I've been there!
