Hello everyone! Junior nursing student here with a couple questions regarding graduate work. (specifically NP) So heres the rundown, this past semester wasn't my best AT ALL. I have to retake 2 classes so it kinda shot my nursing GPA to you-know-what. My question is, do graduate programs look at OVERALL GPA or just NURSING GPA? And if its just nursing gpa they look at, would I be able to take post-bac classes (like hard-core sciences) to increase my chances of getting in? I know I have to the GRE/MAT and have experience but the GPA is what I'm most worried about the moment. As of now, my overall GPA is hovering right below 3.0 and nursing GPA is around 2.5 (if that helps.) Thanks!

Every program can have different acceptance criteria. Most selection comitees try to look at the big picture. If your nursing GPA is low that may be hard considering NP school is considered advanced nursing. It might be a good idea to take a post BSN nursing certificate to raise your nursing GPA. You have two semesters left to raise your gpa so work on that
