Any psych nurse practitioners here? I am in the process of applying to graduate school to become one and I am so excited. Any advice?

I'm one and I'm so excited every day that I'm in this field!

What's grad school like for a psych np program?

And that's exactly why I've got a couple of semesters to go before I get to join you.

It's a lot like other NP programs but without diagnostic tools, lol. Really, that's part of the thing that makes it wonderful. Seriously though, NP school means writing papers. It's not bad. Once you get a system down, you'll be able to pick a topic, pull up Ebsco or something, find some sources, and crank a 10 page paper out in a day with an A! You'll have a research class or two, a nursing theory class (probably the biggest waste of time and money ever!), public or community health, some physio/patho classes, pharm, health assessment (likely the only "medicalistic" class you'll take), and some coursework in specific to psych. You'll have coursework devoted to human development, communication, types of therapy, psychotropics, etc, and practicum experiences to try it all out.

Sounds fun. I'm just nervous it may be hard. I was never the best at research
