Federal government allows for DEA numbers for NP's (not PA's or anyone else commonly disparaged as "physician extenders).

PAs have DEA numbers.

I signed it and shared the link all over facebook! Many people had already shared it too! I don't see the problem with some of these posters.

If you don't agree with it, don't sign it, no one is bashing you for disagreeing, so why try and bash the OP for asking for support for something she or he obviously supports????

Those bashing the OP with the negative comments could be using their more effectively than "harassing" the OP about their stance, especially when you've yet to produce EBP articles and etc....... to support your claims. If you don't like it, why not start another forum that asks for people's opinions on it, rather than trying to upstage one that simply asks for your signature if you want to support the issue?

Geez people.

I signed it and shared it. The petition help increase awareness of the issue, at the very least.

Thanks for posting it!

We are working on a deadline here of 11 days.

Please sign this petition, whether or not you are in the healthcare field. NPs such as myself are fully qualified to treat patients, and have been for 40 years. 20 states already allow us to do autonomously, and research shows that patient outcomes are excellent. Let's get some Federal barriers removed, so that we don't have to continue fighting state by state to allow patients access to the timely, excellent, competent, cost-effective care they deserve.

Please also make anyone you know aware of this petition so that we have a better chance of gaining the signatures we require. Perhaps then, the Federal goverment will mandate licensing for all NPs, regardless of practice state. Such a move would go a long way to averting this crisis and addressing the worsening healthcare shortage of primary care providers.

All this petition would do would be allow patient choice; it in no way forces patients to choose NPs over MD or DOs. It allows choice.

Thank you very much for taking the time to add your name.

I created the petition in order to create public awareness to an issue that is faced by APRNs throughout the country. You are correct "scope of practice restrictions are state level decisions, not federal". The reality is states take the lead of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS). There are numerous federal restrictions that affect APRNs. Two that I can name is the inability to admit patient into hospice and the inability to admit patients into home care. I am asking for support for the petition by signing and passing on to your friends and family if you are so inclined. I do not expect and I know that the President can not change state law, but he can bring attention to an issue that concerns some APRNs.

How are there only 25k signatures when there are far more NPs? I see that 70 of you viewed this; I'm hoping at least 70 signed the petition. It may do nothing, but rather than fight state to state, hopefully would call attention to the matter. I'm actually disturbed that no one has even commented.

I support states maintaining control of professional practice within their borders without Federal interference. Since that is the law and practice in the US at present, the petition is basically an empty gesture.

The reason for so little comment may be because there have been a few other threads already regarding this same petition.

How many times is this going to be reposted? I know its important but there are almost as many of these thread as there are thread asking if the DNP will be mandatory in 2015.
