I've always used nebulizers for little ones and spacers for those about age 6 and up. My niece was just given an MDI/spacer/mask for albuterol at age 2.5. I'm wondering if it is just a regional difference as we are in the south and my sister lives in chicago.
Thanks!

- Aug 7, '12 by nitasarnIm not a Peds NP but I think 5 should be the age minimum. Especially for the directions needed to use a spacer with mask properly. The only reason I can think of is if you didnt have a nebulizer at home and you wanted that patient to have something readily available. I dont know why there would be a regional difference.....
