Passed AANP today!!!

Finally, just before my head exploded from studying, writing papers, and precepting. I've been listening to the Barkley and Fitzgerald CD's for over a year then went to a Barkley live course last week.

The test was pretty easy however I could have passed by one question I guess, lol. I have to give kudos to Dr. Barkley, he pretty much gave some questions almost verbatim as what was on the test. And his book is an excellent resource.

I'm active in an APRN organization in San Antonio and look forward to participating in activities to advance NP's in my state.

If my guess is correct, nice to see another UTEP grad pass the test so soon after graduation. Congrats!

I actually got you by a day. I took the test Monday and passed. Congrats again. Feels so good to not be studying anymore.

I also agree with you about the Barkley review. His CDs were great and I found him way more engaging than Fitzgerald.

I got my ATT the day before we graduated and Monday was the only day available to test in our area for the rest of the month. It was either do it then, or travel several hundred miles.

Will be interesting to hear how the rest of our class does. Some folks were saying they didn't plan to test until February. I'd lose all my nails if I waited that long.

No kidding, waiting would have pushed me over the edge. I've reached out to a few of our classmates with my experience and thoughts on where to focus their studies. Hopefully it helped relieve some stress.

I'm heading to an interview with WellMed today. So far I've had a few job offers; some with pretty good salaries. Do you have an idea where you'll end up?

Nice! Good luck with your interview.

I got offered a job in the spring with an internal medicine physician I precepted with, and he gave me a formal contract earlier this past semester. I also got offers from a few other physicians I know through my current job, but wasn't too interested because they are specialists and I want my first job out of school to be a little more well rounded. Part of the reason I tested so soon is I have this job waiting for me. I figured the sooner I test, the sooner I have better hours, better pay, and better benefits. I've been a night shift zombie for too long.

We might need to make a Facebook group for our class/school for networking purposes. Can't hurt to keep in touch with NP's around the state and country.

congrats mike. I plan on taking monday. I am using amelie review cd.s and question book. did you find leiks review book helpful? I'm just nervous but I think I'm ready. I have so far passed one apea and aanp predictor tests. do you think not going for a live review sets me at a disadvantage?

I thought Leik was great, but Barkley was much more helpful. I didn't use Amelie so can't comment on her CD's. Good luck to you.

Congrats!!
