I graduate in a month and I was just offered a position! (YAY!) My classmates have also been offered positions however no one seems to talk about pay. I would like to know what folks are being compensated for both hourly and salary for my own negotiating purposes.

The position was offered pretty quickly (during the interview) and I wasn't prepared to state my salary requirements so I said $50/hr and they agreed to it then I basically tried to up my game and asked them to increase it after the training period.

I was offered in a private practice $50/hr and after training period $53/hr

If you are hourly do you have administrative time included (ie. lunch time charting?)

What is your CME allowance?

how much paid time off?

I've seen postings for new grad positions in Southern California around that range...however, that is low for Northern California.

Not an NP yet but in my area (which has a lower cost of living than North Cali and more saturation of NPs) NPs usually start at around $60 per hour. You may have undersold yourself.

Juan de la Cruz, Can you tell me where you are finding these jobs in socal? I'm looking to re-locate back to Socal (where i'm from) in the next 8 months or so.

I thought I did good with the $50hr new grad but I guess im wrong. 2 of my classmates just accepted positions paying $40 and $43/hr so im better off than them. Sacramento is where i'm at right now so cost of living isnt so bad compared to SF/Bay area

Could you renegotiate salary after your first year or so? Meanwhile work on finding comparables in your market.

BostonRN13, Yes, we have already discussed renegotiating my pay after 1 year. Of course, if i start at $50 I cant imagine after one year they'll offer anything more than $60, so I may have just shot myself in the foot with this situation. So now im curious after 1 year of work assuming I was making $60 to start what would be a reasonable expectation or demand on my part for the position? $65? $70? $75? The only NPs i know making hourly rates at the $70+ in my area are very seasoned and work for Kaiser.

I get emails from recruiters.

I started working as an NP in SF with experience behind me so my pay is higher. I do know that a Clinical Nurse I (starting position) at our hospital is $55.64, that's why I thought that was low for new NP. New grad NP pay (no RN experience at all or direct entry) is $59.36. I know there's not much difference in RN and NP if you look at it.

i have always found your post very interesting that's hey I had sent you the friend request. I don't know how to PM. I am relocating to Bay Area and I have the same 25 yrs nursing experience and 1 yr adult Arnp I have applied for my NP license in CA. Meanwhile I am looking for hospitalist job or critical care job as np in Kaiser or Standford but my application has been rejected. Is it because I don't carry NP license yet

can u please give me some recruiter number. I don't want to come s Locum as I am the bread earner of my family. I know it takes couple of months for Credentialing and I am looking to relocate in July.

Do you have critical care experience as a nurse practitioner? That sometimes helps especially since the competition here can be tough. Also, are you an ACNP? I know many of the NP teams here usually state that they require ACNP in their job postings. I'm not familiar with Kaiser's Critical Care NP team (and I don't even know if any of their sites have them). I know an NP who worked in the ICU team at Stanford but ended up leaving so I'm not sure what their requirements are. I also didn't use a recruiter when I applied here but I have been getting emails from recruiters (in fact I saw an ICU opening by a recruiter at a hospital in the Sacramento area recently, it did say ACNP required).

I m making 6 figures excluding productive bonus n I take 1 night call n 1 weekend monthly as a mandatory requirement.

? The salary for adult NP in Hosp and clinic settings in Bay Area?? Do they get overtime after 8 hours like nurses??

I don't know much about california, however, $50/hr doesn't sound too bad......but consider/ask how many patients are you expected to see per day? You don't want to be burnt out seeing 30patients/day for $50/hr. Clarify the numbers! You haven't signed any contract, so I don't think anything is binding yet....you have room to request for other things.....I believe.

CEU: $1500-2500

vacation:2-3 weeks

CEU/conference attendance :5days

...and other benefits.

I'm in Oregon. I'm just about to graduate. As a new grad I'm going to request 62 dollars an hour or a 115,000 annual salary plus 20% bonus for profits above 2 times my salary. I also want full medical, dental, 401K, 4 weeks PTO and extra pay for when I take call. This is in a family practice setting that I am currently a student at. As a student I see between 8-10 patients a day and that is with my preceptor repeating my exams and present for all procedures. I expect my first day in the practice I'll be seeing 20 patients a day. I'm not sure if this pay is reasonable or unreasonable. What I know is I was offered an urgent care job that pays 55 dollars an hour, 20% bonus for profits over 2x salary, 3 twelves, and major on call/shift incentives. I'm willing to accept the 55 an hour in family practice so I'm asking for more than I'm willing to take. If they're not willing to pay that I'll take the urgent care job. I am also uniquely poised as I am fully integrated in the office and will require minimal training.
