Is this bonus offer far fetched?

I have an offer for a base salary of $75,000 plus a bonus incentive of 40% of receipts collected over $210,000. It is very busy orthopaedic practice. I am not concerned if I bonus, but I think it would not be possible to even bonus. Am I off track in my thinking? I was told the average visit would be billed at $65.00.

well, others may post better info... as i am still a new np, but you have to also take into account any xrays that you order and interpret into the revenue as well. also, labs, testing, mri... etc. you get reimbursement for these things, too. over a year's time, this adds up more than you might expect. :)

If you're not going to the OR it will be very difficult if not impossible to get your billing over $210k. This is especially true if you are seeing post op follow up patients as you cannot bill for these within the global period. If you are doing a lot of procedures (read joint injections) then you might be able to get above this. The devil is in the details.

Thanks for the info. I would be doing injections. I just felt that it was just about impossible reach the bonus. There are no more details in the contract about the bonus other than i provided. (The whole contract is vague. The attorneys are re-doing it. But I have a feeling it not include everything I wanted clarified. Example...MD wants me to do call every 3 months but it is not included in the contract. I just have a bad feeling about it.)
