I have a very basic question- I graduate Dec 9th, and hopefully I'll test through the AANP shortly thereafter. I'm wondering if I should fill out my paper application for my APRN license now and submit it and have it just pending until passing my certification.
I'm in Illinois.

I would say yes! In my state, they allow new grads to start the application process and will hold it until thier exam is passed. It may take 2 months to for the fingerprint/background check to be processed. This may be completed while you finish you last semester.
I would check with the Illinois state board of nursing for specifics. Good luck!

Yes, I did and stayed in contact with the state throughout.
Thank you both for the advice!

Yes. It will allow for the time it takes to get all the pieces together so by the time you graduate and take your boards the only parts left to collect are transcripts and certification verification.
On a related note, my license number was conferred today! From August when I applied for my test , passed end of October, applied for licensure the following week (of halloween)...so not a long wait although it felt like it.
