Family PMHNP

Some programs describe a Family PMHNP as attending to the mental health needs of persons of all ages. Some programs describe a Family PMHNP as attending to the mental health needs of mainly children and adolescents (and adults only within the context of treating the whole family). Anyone know which is correct?

I'm in an Adult PMHNP program and will be able to treat ages 13 and up. Family PMHNPs can treat all ages. Thirteen is about as far down the pain scale as I want to go

The Family PHMNP is supposed to be able to treat clients across the lifespan. I don't think adult PHMNP is considered a subset, just as Adult NPs are not considered a subset of FNPs.

Can Family PMHNP be certified as Adult PMHNP later after taking extra courses??? Or they have to go for the whole post master certificate thing again?

Then, is PMHNP be a subset of Family PMHNP? Are there limitations for being a Family PMHNP? For example, will they be hired in the settings where the majority of the patient population are adult?
I think there is already CNS certification for children & adolescence in place already.

Most job advertised online are titled "Psychiatric nurse practitioner." It did not specify whether it would be adult or family.

I know that they take different board exams.
