CFNP?

I was talking to a Pharmacist today and he informs me that unless I am an FNP, I can not practice independently in New Mexico. I checked the BON and there is nada in there even remotely like this in the law. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Maybe I missed something. Thanks

They probably confused FNP with CNP which is the term New Mexico uses for all NP. Here is the language from the board of pharmacy:
(3) serve as a primary acute, chronic long-term and end of life health care provider and as
necessary collaborate with licensed medical doctors, osteopathic physicians or
podiatrists

This is the only reference to practice scope. There is a requirement that you have to do 400 hours of supervised practice before you can scrip on your own.

Thank you David. I really appreciate that you take the time to help us out here as often as you do. I dare say that there is not one NP here you have not helped in some form or fashion. You are a role model for me. I hope to be half the provider you are. Actually I am probably twice the provider you are physically.

Thank you for all you do for us here on the board.:
If you find yourself in Santa Fe I'd like to buy you a drink or a meal. Thanks agian.
