Anyone work in LTC

Specialties NP

Are there any NP's out there that work full time at a LTC facility.

I work in LTC now and they would like to hire me full time to stay as a NP. But they are scared and leary as it is a new venture and really don't know what it would entail.

If anyone works at a LTC facility I would appreciate a discription of what you do on a daily basis and how this all works as it is new to me also and really don't know what my agenda would be but I know I could be an assett to the facility.

I'd like to be able to provide some information from someone with experience in this area.

Thanks

When I did my adult health CNS, I did my geri clinicals with an FNP in a large (300 bed) NH. She was employed by the physician (med director), not the NH. Her role was to deter ER visits, monitor pressure ulcers and determine treatment plans and see a geriatric sick call.

She was busy 9-5 M-F.

I also need to ask others opinions about a NP LTC position. It is one position, NP covers 2 facilities each one w 120 pts but one just lost their DON. Went on line and each facility has a 1 star rating out of 5 stars possible as stated in US New World Report. Also, have recvd double the average deficiencies in the last survey at 1 facility w potential harm to residents d/t abuse, etc at one facility. Call is up in the air until I interview. What do you think so far? What would you ask them at interview? Thanks.
