I was offered the following positions:

1. Hospital unit based NP - medicine floor working 12 hour shifts

2. Cardiology hospital based practice - Mon-Fri, some weekends, some call

3. Thoracic surgery, mostly inpatient with some outpatient care with future plans to assist in the OR

All were attractive in some aspect.

My pleasure trauma. Just reading the range of experiences from others regarding certification issues, practice case scenarios, and employment negotiation discussions were all very useful. These discussions helped me better understand what was discussed in class, at my clinical sites and always provided for a different perspective and helped me process information quicker and at time analyze and formulate questions that others in my position had not considered. I really do appreciate all the constructive responses on this forum and I hope to contribute to this forum with responses and experiences that others can benefit from reading. I'll do so once I lose some of this green, I guess you could say I've been recycled. :p From a seasoned nurse back to a noob. :imbar

If your thoracic surgery group is like the one I was involved with you won't be a noob for long (and I mean that in a good way)..
