massage for pt receiving chemo q 3 weeks?

Hi everyone! I am an RN who has ovarian cancer. I receive chemo q 3 weeks. I love massages, but a massage therapist told me that a massage is not recommended when someone is receiving chemo. What have you all heard about this? Thanks in advance.

Default Massage for Cancer patients
[ Hi Stephanie, so sorry to hear about your cancer. The medical facts regarding massage during chemo therapy are still out but most practioners believe that a doctor's permission is needed. If you have been receiving massages on a regular basis, the stress reduction and relaxation of a massage would be good for you. Light massage with energy work could help you in this difficult phase of recovery. On the negative side, the toxins stirred up and circulated around might make you feel worse. I think this would be something to discuss with your therapist and doctor. Times are changing and massage is more recognized for it's health and wellness benefits. Florida has losts of great nurses who are massage therapists. SpencerRN,LMT QUOTE=Stephanie in FL]Hi everyone! I am an RN who has ovarian cancer. I receive chemo q 3 weeks.
