I curious as to what you'd look for when hiring a new Manager. I'm an OB nurse with 12 years experience. I left bedside nursing and took on a Quality position in which I coordinated 200 bed hospital. I love working with nursing and think it's very important they understand the reasoning behind our procedures and policies pertaining to Best Practice. I learned so much that I didn't know as a staff nurse and now feel I want to do more as a manager. I want to bridge the gaps and bring out the best in Nurses.
I left quality. I'm applying for an OB Clinical Manager (exempt and works under the director) but I would like to become a director. I think it's more realistic to start in this role and get hands on experience while helping my director.
I was active in our education committee, charged the unit and was a nurse preceptor. I worked in Quality for only 5 months. I'm ready to lead and make a move (which is why I left bedside nursing)- wondering if this is enough for a hiring director to see in me? I'm an RN, BSN.
Please give me your thoughts...Thank you kindly
