OMG Say it correctly!

Nurses Relations

Published

There is just somethings that really bother me, specifically mispronunciation of words. The specific abbreviation that realllllly grinds my gears is when a nurse or CNA/PCT says " O2 STATS" O2 "stat"uration?

Anyone have anything else that people misspell or mispronounce that gets them going??

Makes me crazy. I don't however, care how you pronounce mellitus.

My Dad lives in NC and had to use a yankauer (which I pronounced correctly) and the nurse, when I asked for a clean one, laughed at me and said "don't you mean a yanker?" NO!

Specializes in OB/GYN, Psych.

This is probably regional, but the word that drives me nuts is realtor. People around here say "real-it-ter". There is no "i" in there, people! Other than that, sahnt-oh-meter and O2 stats, as others have mentioned.
