Impersonating a Nurse - Page 5

  1. OP, what state do you live in? NY? I think that I may know who you're talking about.....
  2. I'm only asking because I know someone that fits this exact description (physically, facebookwise, and LinkedIn). Most people know that she's lying about being a nurse and is really a MA/Phleb, but she continues to do it anyway. It would be crazy if this isn't the same woman because that means that this problem may be more common than I thought. Something needs to be done about people that lie in this manner. If people can get fired for spewing racial slurs on social media sites, then they should also be reprimanded for lying about their credentials.

I don't live or work in New York - but I did find a record in NY/NJ possibly regarding this person, indicating that a person of the same name had been charged with some sort of healthcare related fraud. But I am not positive that this is the same person - as I don't know that she has ever lived anywhere else.

If we all report all nurse imposters, maybe they would get afraid to pretend to be a nurse!

  4. It's official.

I have made official written complaints to our state board of nursing and to our employer.

We shall see what becomes of the complaints (and what becomes of my job).

I will let you know the outcome!

  5. All the medical assistants at my job are called "nurse". I reported it and nothing happened, im so over now. Call yourself whatever you want.
  6. Well, they most certainly know that there’s a difference between a MA and a nurse. If they were the same thing, then MAs would be able to apply for LPN and RN jobs. Not the case for obvious reasons. Patients will call any woman in scrubs a nurse, so this is probably where some of the issue stems from.

She has a nurse fantasy and fetish, I guess. She just posted on Facebook that famous picture of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square - with a comment saying that this was her in a former life. This posting triggered comments by her minions suggesting that she wear her nurse's uniform, etc. Clearly her friends on social media believe that she is a nurse.
Maybe not. Maybe they're suggesting she wear her nurse's uniform because they also know she's FOS.

  8. If she's representing herself as a nurse, then I would definitely take it up with the management of the office (preferably a doctor). The practice could be sued due to her misrepresentation. No one should ever misrepresent themselves in a professional setting. Absolutely NOT appropriate!!!
  9. If you call her on it on a social web site also include that you can't find her name or number on the BON,
  10. I absolutely agree with you - that's terrible! It's an insult to the nursing profession. I have to be honest, your description sounds almost exactly like someone I know in real life whom I thankfully see only once a year, and not in the professional environment. The only difference is that the woman I am talking about is not covered in tattoos and excessive piercings, though she certainly fits that description perfectly otherwise. It's kind of scary that there are even more people out there that match such a description as I can see in other comment here.. wow.

If I were you, I would ever-so-cheerfully ask her very specific questions in front of others whom she has told that she is a nurse to. Can't go wrong with cheerful kindness!

I look forward to hearing the outcome, ColimaDog! Some people.. honestly, I find it quite sickening that there are people in this world who do this. Really fries me.
