I feel like they should change the title of this site to "reasons why my job sucks"

Nurses Relations

Published

People on here need to realize that when you complain on here (and for some that all those individuals do) it really dissuades us new grads from continuing into the profession. First and most obvious question, Does anyone actually like being a Nurse? I mean granted I don't think anyone loves all aspects of their job, but does it seem like a nightmare every day? Secondly, name the best part of your area and your biggest pet peeve.

Sorry had to rant.

Maybe you should start your own site.

Oh, by the way, most people post here without regard to new grads because they are not the epicenter of our existence or jobs or topics .

That's not my point specifically. I am just saying that it seems all everyone does on here is complain and say "I want out!" or something along those lines. I know people sometimes have to vent, but it is beginning to give me and many new grads the impression that nobody likes their job.

By the way, is your profile pic Darrel from Walking Dead?

Im with ya OP. Sometimes I have to make myself stay away from this site, becuase all the negativity just brings me down. IE Raus61.

SPend too much time on this site and anyone would think that the entire world of nursing is a completely miserable experience, new grad or not.

I understand the need to vent, but there's also a lot of attacking eachother here too, which doesnt do anyone any good. I hope I'm not ever as bitter and miserable as many of the other people here are. I understand the need to vent, but how long does it have to go one before you think... hmm maybe i SHOULD be doing something else....

. Any answer I give you is going to sound less than nice.

Life, like nursing, is not all rainbows, unicorns and everyone around the campfire singing Kumbya

Maybe you should be more thoughtful about which topics to read and explore. If they feel negative, than leave and move on to something else..

I would point out that your very topic includes perpetuating negative by asking about pet peeves. It seems disingenuous.

There are many positives to nursing in my life, but given this topic's presentation I won't contribute.

Have a good one.

Yes, it is Daryl from TWD.

The irony of venting about other people venting is palpable.

It's no point in sugar coating the reality of nursing. We aren't going to pretend like it's a wonderful job all the time. It isn't and a lot of people feel this way. Myself included and yes I am one of those that will tell you in a minute I want out. And I'm working towards getting away from the bedside, nursing period if it comes down to it.

Would you rather someone tell you that childbirth doesn't hurt? Or would you rather have someone say look man it hurts like no tomorrow but you can get through it?

The name of the site is ALL NURSES. It is for ALL nurses... ones who hate their jobs included. The purpose of this site isn't to coddle new grads into thinking the real world is great or to persuade people to enter nursing but to provide a forum for nurses to share. People who are unhappy or who have things to vent about are more inclined to post... it's human nature. Just like people who have complaints about you are more likely to fill out their customer service surveys... you'll get to experience those soon enough if you haven't already.

I love being a nurse. I love what I do. That doesn't mean there aren't parts of it that I have hated in my time as a nurse.
