Going to school this summer..when do I tell everyone?

  1. 0 I've been at my current position since August of this year. Last month I found out that I was accepted into several CRNA schools, so I'll be leaving in the late summer time frame. When should I let my manager know that I'm leaving? I feel like I can't really let anyone know that I got into school until I let my manager know that I'm leaving, but I also don't want to keep it a secret from my co-workers (who are also my close friends).

Your manager should be the first to know, not hear it from someone else. You should not tell your coworkers first. Since you want to tell your co-workers now, there is only one logical answer.

I would tell your manager sooner than later. Even though I assume you will be working up until at least June, it may take your manager a while to find another experienced ICU nurse. Also, if you end up using this job as a reference in the future, giving an advanced notice would definitely be something that they would look more positively on.
