Dear Coworkers:

I love my job.

1.) Thank you for noticing that I am behind and stopping me and making me tell you what you can do for me.

2.) Thank you for coming in and helping clean up the 300+ pound lady who had one of those incont. BMs that you just look at the bed and say "where in the heck do we start?" (At 0620)

3.) I think we did one heck of a job keeping the confused man from injuring himself. We also watched each other to make sure he didn't hurt us.

4.) To the RN in ICU where we had to transfer this man, yes we KNOW it totally sucks to get a transfer this close to shift change, but considering we have given him enough meds to stun a small horse and he is still trying to harm himself, he needs your care so that he doesn't hurt himself. BTW, we suggested the transfer several hours ago, and the doc wanted to try more meds and the transfer this close to shift change, sucks on our side too.

5.) Thank you to the pt's wife who caught me in the hall and said "hey I know you are super busy, so I emptied his colostomy and it had Xccs in it."

6.) to the tech that I helped transfer a pt from the stretcher to the bed. That was probably the best bath that she had in a LONG time. Thank you for getting everything ready while I and her RN worked on assessing her skin. I appreciate everything you do.

Please add your thoughts. (yes, I am sure to tell my coworkers how much I appreciate them. We generally have a great TEAM.) :yeah:

Yep! You know it's going to be a good night when there are a bunch of team players on the schedule.

I am starting NS this summer and hope to work with a team like yours in my future!!

I Really do enjoy our unit. We tend to have at least one long-termer. Most of the time we get to build great relationships with them.

Come on share your praises or rants!

To the nurse who came in on call last night, went home at 0200 and is back at work today at 0700, MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU!

To the surgeon whom I have never worked with before, thanks for taking the time to give me a synopsis of the surgery itself so that I can be more prepared for you, and ensuring a better outcome for my patient.

To the patient that took my offered hand before induction-you are the reason I do what I do.

To the CNA who said, "Thanks Canes for helping me clean the room", I will only try harder to make your job easier JUST because you said that.

To the co-worker that came into the OR to give me an unexpected break, thank you so much for giving me a break when I know very well that you didn't have to.

To the boss who simply laid her hand on my shoulder at the end of a rough day of charge and smiled while nodding her head...that's all the positive reinforcement I need. You are the best!

To the OP who started this thread, THANK YOU for offering this positive ray of light. You have no idea how much this helps me re-focus on why I love my job.

Our unit had a census high enough for 4 techs, but through some scheduling mishaps and a call-out, we only had 2 techs.

I want to thank two techs, one who stayed late and came in early, and one from a different unit who came in during her time off to help.

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!! I am sending your names to the higher-ups so you can get some recognition. Thank you, thank you, a million times THANK YOU!

A big hug and thank you for a new graduate RN that works all sorts of extra shifts and never complains. The girl can be 5 in a row (12 hr) and have a smile on her face.

Thank you to the CNA that put day shift on the census board and wrote down their names so I could assign lunches. That saved me 15 min of my time. Your writing is neater than mine too. An added bonus, lol.

Another hats off to a hard working CNA that comes in on her days off to work on supplies. We are a new hospital and inventory is still being figured out.

To the RNs that counted the dreaded pyxis machines before I arrived on duty. It's typically my job, but they had time in the morning, so they did it. YAY!

Finally to the discharge planner. She brought me in a maple bar last Thursday as well. I had been slammed with a ton of discharges, all having issues. She noticed I missed lunch, so wanted to bring me a treat. :)

My thighs don't thank you, but my stomach did!

And, THANK YOU ALL for such a positive post that does the heart of this slightly mature (refuse to say "old") nurse who often feels such deep sadness at the negativity some posters take, especially towards one another and other nurses/patients/etc.. You guys "rock"!

Oh, lord, I left out the nurses! Thank you to all the nurses who helped me bathe, pull up, ambulate, and toilet the assist+2 patients.

To the nurse who brought us all a little "chocolate therapy", you have my undying gratitude and respect.

And to the UCC, thank you for answering so many call lights when you didn't have to. YOU ROCK!!
