Just hired at Trinity

U.S.A. North Dakota

Published

Hello,

I just was offered a position at Trinity.

I'm coming from CA and would love to know more about the hospital and Minot in general.

thanks

Thanks so much for the info.

I'm not sure I can afford to pay a deposit yet. Things have been pretty tight trying to find work in LA. I did hear there is some kind of relocation assistance and sign on bonus, is that true? I left a message for HR and I'm still waiting to hear from them.

I'm afraid I'll be in culture shock when I get there, I'm African American with dreadlocks so I'm preparing for people to be a little surprised when they see me as well.

I've been doing all these online searches of ND, I'm just not sure what to expect. I'm also trying to figure out if I should drive or take a plane. I would love any advice.

Thanks again

You'd be surprised how welcoming ND will be to you. The Minot airforce base is close by with people of many ethnicities.

One of my best friends from high school is AA. People from ND want you to be honest, hardworking, and trustworthy-if you fail on any of these then it will be an uphill battle to regain that trust(no matter your background). They may ask questions about your dreadlocks or about you out of curiosity-don't take it as an insult-they are trying to get to know you.

Good luck!

Hi Tristar,

I know it was 2 years ago, but I was wondering how it went with the move to Minot, ND and working for Trinity St. Joseph? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh Lord! I didn't even look at the date on the post!!:D

Hello,

What a coincidence! I'm from California too and have been working for Trinity hospital for the last 4 weeks. I can't really give you a very accurate information about the facility because I'm new here and still learning their system. First make sure you land an apartment before moving here. Housing is ridiculously competitive. About the hospital.... I like their charting system, everything is computerized and paperless. They have a rotating shifts so one week you're on a day shift and the following week you're on nights. The hospital orientation lasted for two weeks and I felt like it was very repetitive and "useless" since I've learn majority of it from nursing school. Right now, I'm assigned with a wonderful supportive preceptor and I enjoyed working with her. Depending on which unit you'll be working on, the one-on-one preceptor lasts for 6-16 wks.

Hey Joyce I know this is an old post but do you still work at Trinity? Im relocating at the end of this month and need some help finding a place. I know that hospitals have bulletin boards and maybe they have a room for rent?

Hey I am also trying to find a place in Minot! Any luck?? I am starting Nov 7th and I am coming from New Jersey where housing is never an issue. So I finally get a job and now no where to live??? Yikes

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the housing problem out there? I'm in CA and am at my wit's end trying to find a job in CA, AZ, WA, etc... so I'm considering Minot as well. Just want to know what I'm getting into with the housing situation.

I'm moving out there this week and I got hired through an agency. Even they could not find me a hotel room or apartment. Housing is tight but if you look everyday on Craigslist, or Roomates.com you can probably find something. I found someone on roomates.com. Just be careful and ask the right questions.

No idea or knowledge about north dakota at all. but the housing situation i have faced in other areas of the country. to those from large suburuban/urban areas with endless apartments and houses in site, many esp rural areas of the country do not have this at all. especially not high rise apartments. Is this town part of the oil industry booming? did it ever have this much influx of people relocating? maybe it would be a good investment for an apartment complex. if only i had millions and millions to delve into sucha aproject!

Flood this Spring plus oil boom makes housing a challenge and/or expensive.

Is anyone on this post still employed at Trinity? I had a phone interview, and it seems like a good place to work. Can anyone offer any information?

Hi, AZ911Nurse2B. How did your interview go?... I'm scheduled for a telephone interview for Trinity as well and I would like to know what to expect and what kinds of questions they asked.
