North Dakota and BSN only

My school is having us reading some old articles about how ND went to BSN as the entry level for RNs in the 80s. I know this didn't work ultimately; but I'm having problems finding information on this.

My instructor is very much a proponent of BSN as entry level, and I find it interesting that we are reading all these articles about North Dakota in particular and the wonders of BSNs in general--and yet it didn't work out. I'd like to find out WHY North Dakota did not continue with BSN as entry level.

Can anyone point me to some on line resources for this? Articles, websites with any information as to why this did not work, what might have made it work, what problems it caused, etc? I'm trying to be open minded about it, and I'd like to learn a little more before I scoff--but in the back of my mind, when I'm reading all these articles, all I can think about is--but it didn't work! I'd like to either find a reason to say "See, THIS is why this doesn't work." or "Oh, okay, maybe it could work." In other words, I'd like to read about both sides of the issue, not just the one my instructor is presenting.

Anyhow, thanks in advance!

Jean

Default Re: North Dakota and BSN only
I'm in the same boat. I have also been surfing the internet trying to find information on why the attempt failed in North Dakota. I do know it was overturned in 2003. Anyone out there have information on this? Help!
