Published

Hey... I just graduated from UNC and I am considering a degree in nursing. I am looking at the Accelerated BSN program at WSSU. Does anybody know what the prerequisites are and/or when/ how the application process goes. The accelerated BSN part of the WSSU website it not running right now!!!! Just let me know PLEASE!!!

Thanks yall

If i remember correctly, all aplications must be submitted between August 1 and September 1st for their Janauary class. I think its like 13 months or something...Prerequisites were Nutrition for sure, and I think Microbiology, A&P, Chemistry, Growth and Developement?, ill see if i can think of some more, but you can always call them. They may give you the run around but you have to be persisitent. Good luck to you!:)

This is for anyone that has gotten accepted into the WSSU ABSN program. I need to know if I have a shot of getting into this program. As of now this is where I stand:

I have a Bachelors from NCCU Business with gpa around 2.4.

Between August 2010-December 2011 I will have the following general education course completed with B or higher:

Sociology

Psychology

Anthropology

Developmental Psychology

Abnormal Psychology

A&P I

A &P II

Microbiology

Nutrition

Statistics

In 2 weeks I will have completed my CNA I class and start working part time/per diem work.

I also am CPR/AED certified.

What are my chances of getting into the ABSN program at WSSU??

I want to start Spring for Fall 2012.

Have you submitted your application for the fall '12 bsn program yet? I submitted mine today.

Specializes in Cardiology.

The application for WSSU ABSN application process is from aug 1st through sept 1st. You must have a BSN with at least a 2.6 GPA.

Prerequisites:

A&P I and II

Chem w/Lab

Micro w/Lab

Statistics

Dev. Psychology

You also must have a physical and required immunizations before applying: 4DPT, 2 MMR, TB skin test, Varicella, Tdap booster and Hep B is recommended.

I also do know that nutrition is not a requirement. For many schools it is not for WSSU. This is because they teach you all of the nutrition they want you to know.

I'm a former WSSU graduate and I'm also applying to the ABSN rogram in 2012. Good luck all!

Is this your overall undergraduate GPA? Because the minimum undergraduate GPA is 2.6. That may pose a problem for you. Hopefully you did well in your sciences (A&P, micro, psych) I also noticed that you didn't have chemistry listed and that it is a prerequisite. If you could enroll and show that you are enrolled that may help. Also, I may recommend talking to the program coordinator, she may be able to give you a better idea. Her name is Ms. Garrison and she is located in the nursing. Good Luck!

I am currently in the Army and I am due to get out November of next year. I am looking at the accelerated BSN program but the website does not seem to have much information. any tips or help for acceptance will be so helpful.
