UNC-CH school of nursing Summer 2011 acceptance

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey Everyone,

I applied to the first round at UNC-CH school of nursing and am wondering if anyone has heard back from the school. Or know when they should send out acceptance letters. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yeah, maybe that's it. I will be commuting as well.

Wow... So, you guys are starting this summer, I take it? I was under the impression you were starting in January 2012... No wonder our pre-orientation dates are so different. I'm so dumb lol. Gonna blame it on my illness. XD

At any rate, my status on my.unc.edu hasn't changed yet, if it makes a difference to you guys in the summer cohort. I will be commuting to campus, as well. I would think that living on campus, as convenient as the locale is, would be cramping because of the dorm restrictions, small spaces, and the kooky/tiresome hours I bet we will be keeping. Does anyone have any suggestions or heard anything good about a particular off-campus place?

Lol, I am starting in May. I live in Durham and will be commuting about 40 minutes. I will ask around for apartments. What are you looking for (rooms, sq ft, distance from school)?

Chiboy,

You will be communiting about as much as me. I live in burlington.

I'll keep my eye out for apartments as well.

Oh gosh, thank you both, but you don't have to do that for me! :) I like apartment/home hunting anyway, hehe... Just that opinions and word-of-mouth make it easier sometimes.

I definitely wouldn't want to live 40 minutes out, though. I plan on planting myself as close to classes and some clinical sites as possible, lol. For my other undergrad, I had to drive to a bus stop and THEN take a bus to campus. Efficiency will be key this time, I think, especially since this program will be super demanding.

Is anyone here well versed on apartments near UNC?

My requirements are simple- pretty much furnished, with utilities included. and so far my search has yielded Both chapel ridge and view. They are expensive but I am willing to shell the extra money to not worry about utilities.

since I went to NC's party school (y'all know what school I'm referring), I am very worried about living in a complex where there are lots of parties, like every weekend. My complex during my undergrad is owned by the same company as chapel ridge and view, so I have an idea how they run stuff. Since the complex is student focused, I am really worried of constant parties and ridiculous neighbors. Is this the case at UNC or am I just traumatized from my Alma Mater's colleagues?

Any places near campus that anyone would recommend? I am not too worried about clinicals in raleigh. I can always crash at my parents house (they have been stuck with me since August so a visit every now and then for clinicals shouldn't bother them) or my BF's place. I really want to stay as close to campus bc I have a feeling we will have lots of morning class, and I am far from a morning person :-)

Amisadai,

When are you starting? I don't know much about the apartments, but if I hear anything I will def post here.

Amisadai,

I'm living in Chapel View beginning in August, but a friend of mine lives in Chapel Ridge. Chapel Ridge is the newer complex and is mostly college kids (read: more partying). However, Chapel View is a mix between college kids and regular families, so it's more quiet. In addition, the apartments are smaller (1 or 2 bedrooms) as opposed to Ridge which goes up to 4 bedrooms.

I've been trying to find somewhere to sublease over the summer and I was thinking about Chapel View since everywhere else has separate utilities from rent. When it's all said and done it'd probably be around the same price compared to if I just lived in Chapel View.

I don't start until January, so I have a long ways to go but I like to know something about the area before I jump into signing a contract. Did that 3 times and I no longer want. i want to take my sweet ol' time

Chiboy,

My friends who were able to accept admission on myunc.edu have already received their Summer schedule.

I know they have until the first of april, but should we be worried?

Will they be living on campus?

Yes, they will be living on campus.
