I am looking to see if anybody can give me any information about the staring RN wage in charolette NC or Atlanta GA. I just graduated with my RN and have no working experience as an RN but do have 3 years of working experiences as an LPN. Me and my husband are just trying to see what would be the best move between the two cities. Any information you can throw my way about the salary for a new grad RN, cost of living, and job market would be greatly appreciated!. Thank you in advance. :)

Charlotte NC - starting pay LTC =$18 -$22 HRLY, Hospital are hard to get in but pay $19-$25. STAY AWAY from RCD positions in Assisted Living Facilities - you work like 65+hrs for 37hr pay! NOT WORTH IT no matter how efficient you are! This is for NO to LITTLE experience pay for RN/ADN. Not BSN/RN.

Charlotte has a lot to offer but people are not as FRIENDLY as portrayed- but again, Charlotte is a CITY. Job hiring takes about 2 to 3 weeks once you interview!(I'm from Connecticut so this shocked me how long they took!) Cost of living depends on where you live -houses range from $90,000 to $1,500,000 depending on your location. The cost of everything else is pretty much the same as other states. LOVE Charlotte because it is well blended with some many different people & things to do. (planning on moving out of state and I'm soo gonna miss it here)

Thank you for that information. Wow that is not very good pay. When I look at the cost of living in Charlotte its seems relatively high for the most part if their only paying their nurses 19 to 25. I live in a small area in Washington state approx 100,00 people where I'm at and the cost of living is similar to what I have seen in charolette however houses are more expensive here but a starting RN wage here in the hospital is 29.42. Plus you get 3 to 5 dollars more with shift differncial.
