Hi everyone. I just moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina and would like to practice nursing here but am having a difficult time figuring our the reciprocity between my MA RN license and the NC rulkes for working in the state. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get poast the NC red tape to secure my RN license in NC? Thanks

I would say look for endorsement on the BON website

Same boat here. I beleive you have to apply for licensure by endorsement, think it's $150. If you need to start work soon, you can apply for a temp NC license while you're waiting for your perm to come through. Your hospital recruiter may be able to help you!

As someone who had a license from Georgia before coming to NC, I can verify what the other 2 previous posters said. Go to the BON website and fill out the online application. Print the appropriate forms and mail off your check. You will automatically be issued a temporary license number for the meantime until things get cleared. The process is pretty easy but there's no way to really "get around the red tape." It's just something you have to do.

Good luck!

Hi merellis2009,

I noticed that you graduated from the Medical College of Georgia CNL nursing program in Athens. I am very interested in applying for that program and I wanted to get a prospective on someone who has been through that program. Was it really difficult to get in? Did you find the program very challenging? Were the faculty at the school supportive? Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you merellis2009,

You have given me a wealth of information. You sound like you are smart as a whip. I hope that I have a chance as I begin to apply to nursing schools. Thank you so much.

I was just wondering, what part of NC are you moving to? I'm in the Hickory area (north of Charlotte), and am just getting into nursing.
