Licensure by endorsement questions

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello.

I keep getting turned down for every job I applied for, including an interview I had with Duke. I'm hoping that if I apply for licensure it will show them I am serious about NC.

I have a couple of questions regarding licensure by endorsement for an out of state individual. Any guidance or advice on where to find this information would be helpful. I have tried the NCBON website but its not super clear on the details IMO.

-How does livescan work? Do I have to be a current NC resident with an NC address or can I just do it in my state?

-If I can't do livescan out of state how long does it yak to receive a fingerprint card and then how long does it take to get the card processed?

-Do I just use my out of state address when applying for licensure and update when I get there? Would this mean I go from non compact licensure to compact licensure because I would then be a NC resident?

-Do I need to be in NC before applying for endorsement for any reason?

-Does the actual application give details about how to send transcripts from my school of nursing? I haven't started the application because you can't save your progress so I haven seen the actual online application yet.

-Do you pay the $150 application for endorsement fee and then wait to pay for fingerprinting or do they roll that into one fee with their application?

-Do they charge for the fingerprint card or would the Sheriffs office charge to finger print me and send it off?

Any help would e greatly appreciated. I'm having trouble getting a hold of the NCBON because I work PT Monday - Friday and they are often closed by the time I can get to the phone to call. Hopefully next week I will have a day off to call as well.

Oh man. I'm Sorry =( Are you a new grad? NC has SO many more opportunities for new grads than my home state.

I am a new grad. Just can't arm to catch a break! Hopefully something will pan out for me soon. I'm in the interviewing process for a job in Florida now so hopefully I hear back soon!

It takes time as a new grad. Pay in NC is low for nursing. What I made in AZ in more than some nursing home administrators here.

Isn't cost of living supposed to be less there though?

Nope. Not compared to my former area. It is double

Why not move back then?

Cost of moving obligations. When married with kids it is not easy to just go back

Oh I see. Well hopefully things begin to look up for you. Or that moving back will become a more viable option. Best of luck in your pursuits.

It's been a few weeks since all of my documents have been received and 2 weeks since my back ground check was marked "complete" online but my license number remains "pending". How long

did it take to receive your number for those how have applied for endorsment? I've called a few times but can never get a person; I always get someone's voicemail and no one has called back.

A few weeks total but once the background cleared about four days
