Just wondering who is applying for the spring 2017 nursing program at gtcc...The deadline is coming up, and I just wanted to get an idea of the point system this semester. Any info is helpful.

Hello,

I'm already in the program, so hopefully I can answer your question. The desired amount of points the program is looking for will vary from semester to semester. Not that many people usually apply for the spring program, so I don't think it will be that competitive. I applied with 53 points and that was a guaranteed in. When I spoke with an admissions councilor, I was told that they haven't turned down someone with over 40 points in years. Another thing that may play into your favor is that less people seem to be applying. With the last two cohorts, the program accepted a lot of alternates, so if you don't feel that you have enough points, you might be able to rest easier. I don't want to give anyones hopes up, because again, it does change from semester to semester, but I would say if you have over 30 points, you should be good.

Thanks for responding, I have actually applied to the program before but my points were on the lower side then. Also the point system has changed again. The Communications class that used to give 6 points for an A, now only earns you 1 point. When I talked to Angela Dalton, she told me that the points were averaging in the upper 30s this time. Thanks again for your help.

I've applied! I have 49 points and am waiting for my letter in the mail! I thought they said we would be receiving them by the end of Sept but I still haven't heard anything. Anyone hear anything different?

Hello! I just found this website and your posts! I have been accepted into this cohort, and can't wait to get started. I have several friends who began this August, but I haven't wanted to bother them with all my questions so I'm hoping you have info to share! I'm excited about having classes at the new Union Square campus since it's much closer to MOCOHO. I work in the ED as an EMT/ED Tech 1. Anyone else happen to work there or elsewhere? Congrats everyone!

Thanks for sharing! Both of my friends were alternates for this fall and both were eventually accepted. The cut-off was 39, but they had scores in the thirties.

Has anyone started the immunization process and gathering all the needed documents. I went for my physical, first tb test, and flu shot yesterday. I still need to get my shot record and cpr recertification. Does anyone know if they will tell us how to do the drug test and background check or are we supposed to do it on our own?

So I got my letter and didn't get in. We're any of you aware that you had to have 35 points at least to apply?
