GTCC ADN Evening & Weekend

U.S.A. North Carolina

Hello everybody,

I'm applying for 2014 Associate Degree in Nursing at G.T.C.C. I would like to gather as much information as possible from students who graduated from this program and also prospective students like me. I graduated from their Dental Assistant Program last year and I currently work at an Oral Surgery office. I have most of the pre reqs except Bio 166 and PSY 241 which I intend to take this Fall. My CNA class starts in June and will be over in Aug, right before the deadline in September. Please let me know if you're planning to apply for the same program so that we can assist each other. Also I'm unsure about ranking pts I have a certificate as a Chiropractic X-ray Tech, and also hopefully Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certificate (my test is next month). Will these qualify for any pts? What should I expect once I apply and lastly I'm debating if I should go ahead and take the TEAS exam or wait to see if I'm accepted first? Thank you so much for your time and input :)

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.

Moved to the North Carolina State Nursing Programs forum for more of response.

Hi Juliana,

I was just reading through their admission ranking requirements. It appears TEAS testing is a requirement for admission to the GTCC program. The only program at night that I am aware of that doesn't have a TEAS test requirement is Alamance. Theirs is strictly grades in classes to get points. I am at Alamance taking prerequisite science classes but will probably apply next year at GTCC as Alamance only runs the night program every 2.5 years. I will not have enough points to be considered this next class.

Hi Charleen thank you so much for replying, and yes the TEAS is a requirement but I think you don't have to have it until phase II I believe they will have the Minimum Admission Requirement Review first but I might just take it to get it out of the way and at GTCC you can take the test 2 times within 6 months so no need to wait until last minute :)

You can't be accepted until all three phases are complete. Your MAR appointment will be very short. You will meet with an adviser to ensure that you have a completed college application on file, met minimum biology requirements, are currently listed as a CNA, and that you have attended an information session. You will receive your "ticket" to take the TEAS test after your MAR. You will need to complete your MAR, take the TEAS, and revisit with an adviser to calculate your final points before the deadline. All three phases need to be completed by September 10th for Spring 2014 semester. You have to pass the TEAS with a minimum of 65 to proceed. If you are unable to pass the TEAS prior to the September deadline, you will need to retake the exam and wait for the next deadline. You will receive extra points for completing the dental program (5 points) and I believe that you will also receive credit for the certificate (2 points.) Good luck!

Thank you so much Alishia! I was looking forward the detailed information. I appreciate your time. Did you graduate ?

Juliana, I am still in the program. I have not graduated yet but hopefully soon!

Does anyone know about the fall 2014 nursing program? I've been accepted but I have no clue as to what times I will be at school? Is it Monday thru Friday? What should I expect my typical week to be like?

Hi! Are you attending the June 2 - Sept. 3 (night) CNA class? If so, which campus? I am going to the Wendover campus because the Jamestown parking is so frustrating. I just got my certificate in Medical Office Administration and am now trying to get my classes in order so I can apply for the LPN program next year. I am not sure which classes I will need to take since I moved here from out of state during high school. Hopefully we'll be in the same class and if not I'm sure we could still give advice back and forth :D

I did not pay attention and see that this post was last yr. Oops!
