Fall 2018 Wake Tech Nursing

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

I have followed previous threads related to applying to Wake Tech's competitive nursing program. I will be applying by January 31 in hopes of starting their nursing program in the fall of 2018. I am currently finishing prerequisites and will be taking the TEAS in January. I hope to be in the 162 point range if I complete my current courses with A's (bio 169 and hum 115) and get top scores on the TEAS (several ifs!).

Anyone else want want to keep up a dialogue as we approach the application deadline? I'd also love to hear from folks on alternate nursing programs and comparisons to the Wake Tech curriculum if anyone has some info to offer.

I have heard they are changing the point structure after this application submission and am also curious if anyone has solid info on that.

Let's get the conversation started!

Did anyone ever find out what the nursing schedule is once accepted? I'm trying to find out early since I have a child who would need to be in daycare.

Aseason4peaches, I did send a text to the only person I know who started the nursing program this semester but I did not hear back from her. I didn't know her all that well so I guess I'm not surprised.

And just for the sake of accuracy and completeness, I misstated my points in a previous post. I have 133 points, not 136. I dropped off my application yesterday at the Health Science campus and met briefly with an advisor. I just wanted to make sure my application was complete and confirm that they had everything they needed. He confirmed that they had all of my previous transcripts; credits I had from NCSU transferred; my TEAS scores were recorded; and he looked over my application to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

He told me the goal was to send letters to all applicants at the end of March or beginning of April. I'd love to hear from more folks who either have applied already or will be applying this month and how many points everyone has. Given I have micro and dev. psych this semester, I know I won't be in the group with the most points but am certainly hoping for the best.

@suebeecron - you can be really proud of that point tally without having Dev. Psych or Micro added into the mix! And like you've said, you never know what may happen. It certainly doesn't hurt to turn in an application! I turned mine in before winter break, but went by campus and met with an advisor briefly last week just to confirm that they had received everything, had my TEAS scores, etc. I just had this kind of nagging feeling that I wanted to, and I knew I'd drive myself crazy if I let the deadline pass without getting that final confirmation. Now it's out of my hands! I didn't think about it until I was at my car, but I forgot to ask when they anticipated mailing letters, but I'm glad to see that you remembered to ask that! The end of March doesn't actually seem all that far away!!

Monday & Tuesday is usually 8-12 Wed is either 8-12 or 12-4 depending on if your morning of afternoon lab and morning people will have clinicals 645-1245 and evening would be 130-730 on thursday and friday

What is everyone's point range looking like? I will be applying for the spring of 2019, and was wondering what the average range of points were? Thanks! And good luck to everyone!!

I've applied for Fall of 2018 and I have 133 points. I'm thinking about meeting with an advisor to see if I can get any scoop at all and will post any info I get. I doubt they'll give me any information on the point spread yet but I'll ask. A fellow student that started the nursing program this semester found out everyone's points at orientation so worst case, we'll find out more information then.

Thank you! Good luck with everything!

I stopped in to meet with an advisor at Perry Health Science Campus today to see if I could get any scoop on the fall nursing program applications. The only thing she said was that she thought all of the applications would be turned over to nursing within a week or so and that she thought it would be another week or two before letters would go out. Somehow I doubt letters will go out that quick but I hope it's true! I asked if she had any insight on how the new point structure would affect the process but she had no comment. I'm curious if it will widen the field a bit, so to speak, but I guess we're not going to find out until a letter shows up in our mailbox! My classmate who started this semester said that pretty much all questions got answered at orientation but I don't have any idea when that will be. For this semester's students, orientation was on October 20, 2017. I guess we can't really draw any conclusions from that since that application date was the end of July. Fingers crossed!

If you go backwards in the replies, #15 has remarks about the schedule. I do not believe acceptance letters have been mailed yet. They like to stay very vague on when they will go out. I was told March or April. Not really all that helpful! I promise to post as soon as I receive a letter.

I did hear one new piece of information from a fellow classmate. She was told by an advisor that applicants with around 130 points would be considered "competitive" under the new points structure. I had asked this specific question when I met with an advisor like two weeks ago and she said she couldn't give me any indication on that.

I just hope it's soon!

I meant more of the day to day hours instead of the timing. Sorry, I should've clarified that.

It was answered in a previous note. I'll copy it below. More info would be great but this is what was posted:
