Duke University ABSN Fall 2013

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey everyone! I submitted my application to Duke University's ABSN program for fall 2013 a few weeks ago, so I wanted to get some conversation started! Is anyone else applying?!

Hi everyone! I am also applying for Fall 2013. I just got my last recommendation letter in, so I will be submitting my application this weekend. I do live in the area, so I will be happy to answer any questions for those of you who live far away!

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application a few days ago. I was wondering if there was a way to see if Duke has received my transcript? By logging in to the website I am only able to see that my application has been submitted. Just wanted to make sure everything is complete! Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone! Are you guys applying to any other programs?

I was able to check if Duke received my transcript by logging in to the application. That's how you check the "status".

MrsBaze, are there any nice, clean, safe and affordable places for a younger student (early 20s) to live by herself in Durham? I'm looking for a place that has a washer and dryer. I would prefer to spend no more than 800 a month including utilities. Is this possible?

In the past, applicants heard in December about interviews. Does anyone know when in December we may hear?

Good luck, guys!

I can see that my recommendations have been submitted. Will it come up in this section when they receive my transcript?

I am also applying to NYU, Pace, Case Western, and Georgetown but Duke is my top choice! From what I've read we will find out about interviews in December. I am getting nervous!

Duke is my top choice as well!!! And yes, it will come up in that section when they receive your transcript, as far as I can tell!

I'm getting nervous too. I hope we all hear good news!

Thanks for the help! Hopefully we will all be able to meet at Duke Days!

Hopefulnurse24, I don't think you should have a problem finding a place like that around that price. It will probably depend on how close you want to live to campus. I would recommend browsing raleigh.craigslist.org, just to get a feel for what is out there (and how much they cost). Durham gets a bad wrap sometimes, but it really is a nice, safe place to live! Like any city, there are some areas you want to avoid.

Good luck to everyone!!

Hope everyone is doing well! I was just wondering if anyone else did not submit GRE scores. I believe mine should be waived but my application status still says incomplete because they do not have scores. I wouldn't want my application to not be reviewed because of this!

Thanks MrsBaze! oh191, I didn't submit GRE scores. Mine is waived as well and admissions told me that it was okay that it said that. I'm sure that if GRE scores were necessary they'd contact you after the 1st (those can be sent really quickly if I'm not mistaken).

Thanks for the help! I didn't take the GRE because my cumulative GPA is over the required to have it waived so hopefully everything goes through okay!

Admissions told me we won't hear about interviews until late January/early February, which I guess is later than people were posting about last year. :-( They said they will e-mail us, so we don't need to obsessively log in to the application system to check, as I may or may not have been doing...

ShanghaiGirl, someone I spoke to told me that as well and that we'd hear in May... I don't think that was correct though lol. It was the first person who answered the phone when I called.
