U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey everyone! So I realized there wasn't a group for the 2016 Nurse Residency at Duke so I thought I would make a group that we we could all talk about it. My interview is January 15 so I'm pretty nervous but I'm also excited! Feel free to post with any questions or advice!

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

What specialty?

my interview is with the medical/step down unit!

Hi there! I also plan on applying. I just had a question: to who did you address your cover letters too? And does anyone know anything about the interview process or amount of positions? I am a hopeful from out of state.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

I live in the area, so I did a shadow with one of the unit nurses and then the "formal" interview with the manager. It was great. I heave heard lots of different formats though. Some do over the phone or Skype, some come in for job fair-type stuff with tours and stuff.

Hi All,

I applied and just received word that I will be interviewing for the Adult Medical/ Step down unit! I'm flying down for February 26th and hope I make it past the first round of interviews.

Does anyone have any ideas how to prepare? As a new grad, I am completely lost and nervous!

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!

Hey everyone!

I posted on the other Residency Program 2016, but figured wouldn't hurt to post here either. I also applied and I'm from out of state (arkansas) and will be relocating :-) I recieved an email from a recruiter to interview/shadow the PCICU (pediatric cardiac icu) and I'm excited/nervous/all of the above! Glad to see there are others applying from out of state :-)

I just accepted a new grad position in the Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU. I live in the area and did a two hour shadow, then had a formal interview with the unit manager and a clinical lead. Before I got back home, I had a formal job offer.

That's awesome! I was a little worried about shadowing before my formal interview but it seems it went well for you! I interview in a little less than 2 weeks. Any other tips would be super helpful! Congrats!

Hey Guys,

I'm also graduating in May with my BSN. I go to school in Maine but I'm from Massachusetts, so I will also be relocating if offered. I got asked to interview for the CT ICU. However, with school the only time I could find to go down for my interview is not until my spring break. I'm shadowing for 2 hours and then have my interview on March 15th. This also happens to be the day of the Duke Heart Center open house. Getting a position at Duke is my dream job and I'm excited to even have an interview. I am a little nervous since the interview is still a month away. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it!

Congrats to you all that have already received offers!!

Does anyone who graduate in May who already have offers know when their start day is? Are they flexible or do they let you choose a start date? Do they give you time to relocate?
