    Criminal background checks for NC

    I will be starting nursing school in Aug.
    Could someone give me the guidelines on the background check we are told the BON will do? They don't seem to be very helpful when I call...

    I hold a license in NC as well as Florida where I'm now residing. I believe all states requiring background checks now check within that particular state as well as with the FBI. When I obtained initial licensure it wasn't required in NC and I received my license quickly.
    However, when I moved here and applied it took two months for the FBI and FDLE (Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement) to complete the checks.

    I am licensed in both Va. and N.C.

    The NC thing was pretty basic.. you get a form you have to fill out, and a fingerprint card which you take to any NC police station to be fingerprinted. You send it all in (just follow the enclosed instructions) and it takes about 6 weeks until you receive your license in the mail.
