New Grad Jobs in Charlotte

I've had the same problem....I graduated in december and worked at a SC hospital for 3 months in the ICU and had a bad experience and ended u leaving. My family lives in Charlotte so I moved back home and had a very hard time because CMC and Presby require a new grad orientation if you have less than 6 months of experience working as a RN. I applied everywhere and the only places hiring are long term care which was disappointing, but I was hired as a RN supervisor on a skilled unit and I'm enjoying it although I plan to at least work PRN at a hospital. Luckily are some good facilities in Charlotte, get a copy of "senior living" with the apartment guides in the front of grocery stores for a list of facilities. Keep in mind, you just need 6 months of experience ANYWHERE then you're no longer a new grad and can apply to any RN jobs at presby and CMC : ) Good luck to you! <3

I currently go to a nursing school in Charlotte, NC. I will (hopefully) graduate this December. Our grads from May only had about a 2/3's placement (about 14 of 21 or so??) in the CMC healthcare system. Of the summer grads we had 4 out of 20 so far placed. We've been instructed that an interview is not guaranteed at this time where as last year you were guaranteed at least two interviews and they had about a 95% placement. Sooooooo, we're all in the same boat.

You may want to consider Fort Mill, SC. CMC will mostly (not always) take their new grads from their affiliated schools CCHS and Mercy. Presby is not even hiring their new grads and some of the Presby grads have gotten jobs at CMC. So unless you have GREAT references I would consider a different location then right in Charlotte, NC or at least consider the nursing homes.

Just out of curiosity, where did hear that Presby isn't hiring their own grads?

One of my friends graduated in May and they told her not to waste her time applying there (she graduated from queens) because they weren't hiring. So she applied at CMC. got a job.

Granted that is only one person...

i meant to add it was all heresay though. She just mentioned they told her at the hospital not to bother applying...i'm not sure if the school told her that. But when she looked online she didn't see any available jobs for new grads so she didn't waste her time. I'm not sure about the others in her class but she told me that about 2 months after grad only about 6 of them had jobs and all or most with CMC.

I am a newbie in the same boat. I graduated from an affiliate CMC school AND I am a current employee in their system. I was ****** for awhile because it doesn't make any sense. Every time I call them everything seems to be up in the air. Another class will be graduating soon and they are clueless about what to do with all of us. Presby said the same thing--"we don't know, things are still up in the air." Be on the look out for the Presby's open house, which in January brought in 250 people! I know people who got hired that way. I found a job through a home health agency, so I am grateful for that. It's not where I wanted to start, but I believe that doors open and close for a reason. My first choice was to work in the hospital, but this experience is teaching me to be more creative. I am moving forward by applying to RN-BSN school, then to get my Master's ASAP. Times have changed and it seems the "traditional" way of doing things have also changed. Good luck!

Hey, I just relocated to Charlotte from Tallahassee,Fl I am having the hardest time trying to get a chance to start my career. There are so many RN positions available but I don't "qualify" for the job because I don't have experience... I thought you get good experienced nurses by training them????? some you please tell me if I am wrong! It's a bit frustrating but I will continue to be positive.

OH MY GOD. I am just so disgusted and disappointed by the situation here in charlotte, NC. I am just in disbelief. I am a new grad and I just moved here and I am just uhhhhh I have had it with these policies and rules. nobody would hire, not even give me a chance to learn and get training. what a shame. I am already thinking about moving out of this place.

Reading this post breaks my heart. I am a new grad from California and considering moving to North Carolina because I was hoping that I might have a better chance landing a job out there. Now I am having second thoughts learning that it just as bad.
