There are other places than Charlotte. I just moved to the Greensboro area from CA as an LPN and quickly found a job. There is a new medical center in Kernersville set to open in spring of 2011.

I'm having the same problems too. I moved here last September and graduated from Excelsior College in June. CMC told me I missed their new grad application deadline so they wouldn't consider me with the June OR December graduates but after they looked at all of them my application would be considered! I haven't heard anything from Presby.

I became a nurse after being a paramedic and everyone insisted it was a great idea and I'd have tons of opportunities but it's been nothing but let downs.

I feel like if I had been able to stay in NJ I may have had a better chance because at least there I was working for a hospital. Oh well... (thanks for listening to me complain)

I also just moved to Charlotte area from New Jersey. There were no jobs in New Jersey for New Grads, or so I thought. I am having such a HARD TIME finding a job! There are so many nursing jobs down here, but NONE for new grads! I have applied EVERYWHERE! any one have any suggestions?? I had to take a job doing something else just to get by! absolutely no one is hiring new grads, not even any long term care facilities, clinics, doctors offices, no one! I understand the way things are today, but someone has to give new grads a chance! Although I wish we could all get jobs, i feel a little better finding others in the same situation as me, and knowing it's not just me!

I am in the exact same situation! i definately feel your pain! i just moved down to NC from NJ, and I was working at a hospital as an aide, and i feel that if i stayed there, i would have been working as a nurse! everyone said that getting out of town would open up all these doors of opportunity, but it's been nothing but heartache!

Charlotte is absolutely flooded with new grads that need jobs & more (like yourself) keep coming everyday since the job market everywhere else is horrible too.

I would suggest broading your search to areas around Charlotte like Gastonia, Greensboro, Columbia SC, Spartanburg SC. There are also rural hospitals around that would be more willing to hire new grads.
