This is for NURSE4SURE-I was reading your post and was a bit offended by you saying that 'Stratford' was unsavory! Please watch your comments, due to others reading your post. I'm not sure which way you came (maybe the White Horse Pike), but I live here and it is a nice town. If it's unsavory, then stay in Monmouth please! Thanks

Hello everyone - I need some advice, UMDNJ is my first choice for the ABSN program. I have to take the following pre-reqs: A&P 1 and 2 (w/ lab), Microbio (w/ lab), Chem (w/ lab), and Psych. I really want to apply to Summer 2010 semester. Would it be too much to take all these courses in one semester? I am afraid if I split the pre-reqs into Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, the end of the Spring 2010 will overlap with the beginning of Summer 2010 nursing program at UMDNJ, and I would have to wait until Fall 2010. Is there a way around this?

I already have my BS in Bio, and I am finishing my MBA. So I am eager to get started since I have the time right now. I'd appreciate any advice/suggestions. Thank you!

Hey Jazzy-
WoW! That would be a lot to take all at once. I recently took A&P 1 & 2 and Microbiology all at once in order to get into the program for the Fall 2009. That wasn't too bad, but it really depends on whether you can handle that all at once. Four labs in one semester is going to be rough. I hated Chem so that would be hard for me. You're also right about the Spring 2010 overlapping their Summer 2010, I know my school did thats why I just started for the Fall. Also, don't forget you have to get a B or better in all of those classes to really be considered. This is something you really need to answer for yourself considering you know your capabilities better than any of us. Good Luck with it all i'm sure you'll figure it all out and do great.

Does anyone know of anyone who got accepted to UMDNJ with less than a 3.0 GPA? I have a 2.98 & 4.0 in my prereqs but doesn't seem like I have a shot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey MONEJA-
If your overall GPA is a 2.98 you may encounter some problems. I graduated with a 3.65 when I was accepted. I just began this fall and everyone is really smart. Whatever you do... don't give up. Just apply and see what happens. I think that the 4.0 in all of your pre reqs will outweigh the overall. Good Luck!

For those of you questioning GPA, don't give up! I had a 2.5 my freshman year and graduated with a 3.19. I redid all my prereqs from undergrad for both expiring/grade reasons so I ended up with an A in Micro, B+ in A&P I, and B in A&P II. I'm not sure which chem they took, but my lowest chem is a B and a few have A's. My grad school GPA that they saw is a 3.4 (yay its a 3.56 now!) and I GOT IN! (for Spring 2010)

If nursing is your dream, don't give up. I think it helps that I had other science courses after first taking my prereqs that showed huge improvements, but I would recommend taking a few science courses before diving into A&P and Micro. They are intense programs and the second time around with a biochem and exercise physiology (my first degree--and I love that too!) background made things flow so much easier. No matter what though, don't give up, keep chugging along!

Good luck everyone!

Despite getting all As in all my pre reqs Micro, Gen Chem, A&P I&II, Soc. & Psych but a 2.9 GPA & I got a rejection letter a few days ago . Though I'm not surprise because the recruiter told me not to apply if I have less than a 3.0 because they won't even review my app. However, I have applied to two other schools & have gotten accepted to both.
