For those of you who have graduated from there.... Are clinicals every other Saturday or every Saturday? Where do we typically have them besides Bergen Reg? How difficult was it for any of you to get hired after you graduated and was anyone able to get a position in a hospital? Thanks for any comments!
Clinicals are every other saturday for the 1st 16 weeks. After you pass gerontology the clinicals move to nights during the week. Psych is back a bergen regional and Med surg is in Nursing homes. I have no clue where they will send us for Maternity/Peds. Hope that helps.

Make sure you have a lot of time to devote to studying. They expect you to do ALOT on your own.

No they do not have a part time nor a night program either. What they do have is one great program. I went throught it 2 years ago...on my way to my RN My RN is a Breeze thanks to that school! I would not do it any other way! I guess I was lucky that I could go full time days, but to tell you the truth thats the way to really learn nursing. But What really makes Holy Name a superior program are the instructors. They have all been there for at least 5 years and one for over 20.

I am A GRADUATE OF EASTWICK COLLEGE formely HOHOKUS......& A FORMER HOLY NAME LPN STUDENT.
DO NOT BELEIVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR...TAKE IT FROM ME I HAVE BEEN THREW BOTH PROGRAMS BOTH HAVE THEIR PROS AND CONS AS WITH ANYTHING. BUT I WILL TELL YOU WHY EASTWICK/HOHOKUS IS THE BETTER PROGRAM... LET ME FIRST START OUT BY STATING THAT I WAS NOT KICKED OUT OR EXPELLED FROM HOLY NAME, AT THE TIME OF MY DEPARTURE I WAS AN A/B+ STUDENT, AND IT DEVASTATED ME GREATLY TO HAVE TO DEPART FROM A PLACE THAT I HAD GREW TO LOVE AND TEACHERS WHOM I GREW TO ADMIRE, "HNH" IS A GOOD PROGRAM IF YOU'VE BEEN IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD AS A CNA/UNIT SECRETARY/ SOME TYPE OF HOSPITAL WORK, HNH IS FACED PACED, THERE ARE 2MAIN INSTUCTORS THEY TAKE ONLY ABOUT 20STUDENTS PER YEAR "CREME DE LA CREME" YOUR DAYS ARE JUST LIKE AS IF YOU WERE GOING TO WORK AND SOME, THEY START AT ABOUT 8AM-AND THEY DAY IS OVER AT ABOUT 3:00-3:30-4 ESPECIALLY IF MRS LYONS IS LECTURING (ILOVED THAT LADY

HOHOKUS: THEY TAKE ABOUT 20-22STUDENTS EVERY 4MONTHS, IF YOU CAN MAKE IT THROUGH FUNDAMENTALS YOU HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE I CALL IT THE WEED OUT, THEN YOU PROCEED TO MEDSURG WHICH IS HELL THEN TO PEDS/MATERNITY AND PSYCH.. IN MY OPINION HOHOKUS IS A BETTER PROGRAM BECAUSE PERHAPS IF YOU DONT GET IT THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE AN OPTION TO TAKE A COURSE OVER IMMEDIATLY NOT LIKE HNH YOU HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR AND THATS IF SIS CLAIRE DECIDES YOUR WORTHY ENOUGH, HOHOKUS WILL WORK WITH YOU IF YOU HAVE ANY FINANCIAL PROBLEMS HNH WILL NOT THEY HUNT YOU DOWN CONSTANTLY EVEN WHILE YOUR IN CLASS.

I LOVE HNH I EVEN PROCEEDED TO GET MY RN AND I WORK FOR THEM NOW BUT THEY ARE NOT VERY FLEXIBLE IN THIER NURSING PROGRAM..ANTHOR THING HOHOKUS DID NOT GET KICKED OUT OF VALLEY ELENA...VALLEY IS EXPANDING THEIR BLDGS THERE IS NO ROOM FOR PARKING LET ALONE EXTRA BODIES ON THE FLOOR....YOU GET YOUR MED/SURG CLINICALS AT BERGEN REGIONAL JUST AS GOOD AS HOLY NAME..AND WITH BERGEN REGIONAL YOU WILL LEARN WHAT IT IS NOT TO HAVE THE PRODUCTS YOU NEED AND HAVE TO COMPRISE I DIDNT SEE THIS THAT WAY WHEN I WAS A STUDENT BUT NOW ITS VALUABLE..YES THEY GOTO CARE1 BUT AS A LPN AS PPL HAVE STATED YOUR NOT GONNA WORK IN A HOSPITAL ANYWAY MATTER OF FACT CARE1 IS WHO HIRED ME STRAIGHT OUTTA HOHOKUS AND I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. YES YOU GO TO WANAQUE FOR PEDS BUT HNH GOES TO ST.MICHEALS IN NEWARK..WANAQUE IS A GREAT FACILITY FOR PEDS AND YOU GET 6WEEKS YOU SEE TRACHS/GTUBS/ALL THOSE VITAL SKILLS THAT YOU NEED..MATERNITY IS AT VALLEY AND YOU GET TO SEE C/SECTIONS DAILY YOU GET YOUR OWN NEWBORN SO TO SAY PAPERWORK THE WHOLE 9, ONLY THING THEY SAY THE VALLEY GIRLS DONT LIKE TO GIVE NATURAL BIRTH SO U MIGHT MISS THAT. PSYCH IS AT BRMC ALSO SO IS HNH PSYCH BUT NOW HNH PSYCH MAY BE INHOUSE BUT BRMC PYSCH IS BETTER.
HOHOKUS PROGRAM MAY SEEM WACKY BUT I JUST WENT WITH THE FLOW BECAUSE I WAS DETERMINED TO BE A NURSE ITS MY LIFES CALLING...HNH HAD A GOOD PROGRAM CALLED MEDSPUB WHICH YOU ANSWED QUESTIONS AND THE SCHOOL KEPT TRACK OF THESE AND YOU HAD TO HAVE SO MANY BY A CERTAIN TIME FAME. TO SIT FOR HESI/BORDS...HOHOKUS YOU DO A PROGRAM IN THE LAST SEMESTER THE HESI WHICH UR ALREADY STRESSED OUT BECAUSE YOU HAVE PSYCH AND A 2PROJECTS.
AS A LPN I PASSED MY BOARDS WITH 81 QUESTIONS SO I KNOW I LEARNED SOMETHING AT HOHOKUS...MAYBE IN MY CASE IT WAS THE COMBO FROM BEING AT BOTH PLACES AND WORKED IN HEALTHCARE IDK... BOTH PLACES HAVE EXCEPTIONAL NURSING INSTRCTORS WHICH EVER SCHOOL YOU DECIDE IF YOUR HEAD IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD EXPERIANCE...SORRY FOR THE CAPS MY KEYS ARE STUCK!!!!!

Hi momknee, I have a question and I would greatly appreciate if you could get back to me. I took the NET test at HNH back in May, and still don't know anything Did you get your results by mail, I mean did they send you anything or they just called you to set up an interview? How long did you wait after you took the test? How can I find out what is my test score?
Thanks
If anyone could get back to me I would greatly appreciate it

I don't undestand your question, sorry.. Job at hospital? Must be a joke. There is no such a thing,,.,

You can study wherever you want, Hohokus or other little matters. Your background in healthcare field ( if any) counts more since there is no nursing shortage.

You will be lucky to get a job..there are positions but they all require experience...that isn't the point for you right now.
You pick a schools that fits your needs, and pass it. LPn program is very very difficult if no healthcare backround or college A&P classes.

Don't hesitate to ask questions at any time, ok?
Good luck..

Good luck..

Thank you Elena,
Unfortunately i have no background in healthcare. All my life i have been a musician. So i am sorry if my questions sounds a bit ....off.
Thank you so much again for your answers and time you spend for me. It helps me so much little by little to understand in ditails what i am looking for.
i was thinking about college and then some adult center...but i am afraid i am not going to pass there entrance exam so now i am trying to look for schools in NJ...where i have to pay 6 times more..but have chance to get in.
Well good luck to me...
and really thank you again for your help!

Hey Alexnyc,
Don't give up because im currently in an LPN program I didn't have any healthcare experience and Im doing fine and those that did have previous healthcare experience still found nursing to be difficult, is doesn't matter whether or not if you have experience. What matters is that you know what you want and you are going dedicate yourself, in order to achieve your goal.
So don't listen to what people say just focus and be confident in yourself and you will make it.
Good luck
