I get sooo tired of people ragging on the LPN program at the Hohokus Hackensack campus ! I graduate in November and can tell you that the progrm is excellent and the teachers are amazing, though I disliked only one batch of teachers I had for Gerentology clinicals. There seems to be an overwhelming lack of commitment and discipline with many of the studen I have seen at both Ramsey and Hackensack campuses and THAT is the only negative thing can say about either campus. The stuonnts seem to think they should have the information handed to them with little or no effor,t not realizing that it is ultimately YOUR job to know the information and YOUR responsibility to let the instructors know when something is not understood. I have seen too many of the students treat clinical like a chore.. something to get through and tolerate but would rather be partying somehwere else.
It must be remembered that ones learning experience is ultimately what YOU make of it. I would recommend the hackensack campus to anyone and look forward to entering their rn program when they open, which is soon !

I graduated the Ramsey program in January and actually really enjoyed it. I'm waiting on taking the NCLEX but a lot of my classmates have already taken it and are already working in the field. The clinicals are actually really helpful too.

Good luck with the Entrance exam- there is a book you can purchase that can help you with the entrance exam: Review Guide for LPN/LVN Pre Entrance Exam, Second Edition (Review Guide for LPN/LVN Pre-Entrance Exam) by Mary E. McDonald (Paperback - Nov 21, 2003)
ISBN-10: 0763724874

Hi, since all of you attended Hohokus, I have a question. I'm entering into the LPN program in April and would like to know how the NET test is? I have the book to study but am anxious since I failed it once somewhere else. What suggestions or advice can anyone give me to be successful? I really need to definitely pass this test so I can get started with my career. Thanks.

It's really easy. It was just math & english. Are you okay with basic math? Know fractions. I'm pretty sure almost everyone passes it. WHen are you taking the test? And are you doing night or day? I'm in LPN 2 (day) right now. It's HARD, I just started it today (I finished LPN 1 at the top of my class). As long as you dedicate yourself, it's good.

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm kind of nervous because I thought it was a big test, they said it's the NET test and I took at Holy Name which was 3 hours and it was hard. I failed that one. I was suppose to take the test this week but cancelled because I felt like I wouldn't be ready. I'm good in English but with Math, it's hard for me. I know basic but when it comes down to Algebra it's hard. I would be attending the Day. I wanted to start the now at the end of January but might have to do it in April which is the next program. The coordinator there made it seem like it wasn't hard at all so I thought I'd ask. Maybe I should just go take it and chance it. But, she said if I fail I'd have to wait 4 months to retake it? So, you think everybody makes it? It's not as hard as it seems. Thanks for the info. I look forward to meeting you in the near future when I start. Let me know.

Oh okay. Maybe they changed it... mine was just basic math & english. Call them and ask if it's Science. Get the Cliffs Note NET test prep book. I'll sell it to you for like $10.00 if you want and you can either meet me at the school and I'll give it to you or I'll have to charge like $3.00 shipping (I think it retails for $25). It was really good. The earliest you will get in is April, January started yesterday, but more realistically July because I know quite a few people failed out of Nursing I and are on the list to get back in in April. Get the test done ASAP so then you can start. I reviewed for about a week and I was fine.. and that was probably only an hour a day.

A tip, when you finish the test they tell you to do some print thing. Before you exit out of it, look at it really quickly. Your results are on there (it's a bar graph). Otherwise you have to wait 3 weeks and it's killer waiting to find out if you're in or not. If you get in, you have to bring in a check of $250.00 and then another $250.00 (unless it went up..) when you go for orientation.

The program is HARD. The teachers are great (intimidating but wonderful, really) you just have to be willing to give it your all and put aside all other obligations. Also if you need to, you're not going to be able to work during Med-Surg. It's so intense (I'm in it now..) so start saving money if you have to. I wish someone told me that early on, lol.
