ew. now, that may be the ONLY good thing about the policy at the hosp where I did my OB clinicals - everyone was on total bedrest, most had a Foley, and all had to be accompanied to the bathroom, or given a bedpan. 95% epidural rate, most VERY heavy. Not many people were getting up to go to the bathroom anyway.

:lol2: Poor little toilet heads!

Actually, the majority of toilet babies we've seen have been from the ER. Usually the mother didn't even know she was pregnant.

We had a port-o-potty baby last year. Farm worker found her in there. Can we say, suspected sepsis?

Ohhh, I can think of a lot more to say about that! :o

When I worked nursery some of the nurses affectionately named those babies "Imersa Toiletta".

We occasionally have toilet babies or floor babies when the mother comes in to get registed or when she goes to the screening room and they tell them to go into the bathroom and change into a gown. Most of them decide to sit down on the toilet and out it comes!! The umbilical cord is a neat bungie cord!!! :lol2:

I'm going to be induced tomorrow (another thread all together) No babies en la toilette for me!

aww that is very sad . :sniff:

My daughter was almost born in the toilet. I was in hospital for preterm premature rupture of membranes at 31 weeks. For whatever reason the machine wasn't picking up my contractions so I and the nursing staff figured the pains I was having all day were just from the baby moving with no cushioning. She was my first what did I know? Anyway at one point I decided I really had to go to the bathroom. There was no one around because hey I was stable and not in labour. Well got in the washroom and sat down to pee and quickly realized I was having a baby. There was no call button in the bathroom and I was in so much pain I couldn't speak. I tried to speak but words were not coming out. I couldn't move so there I was in the washroom just praying to get the strength to open the door because I could feel her coming out. Luckily the nurse came by and heard me moaning and got me out of there. Poor nurse she was so young and she really didn't want to deliver a baby all by herself. She did well and my daughter came out kicking and screaming (a relief for us considering her prematurity). Everytime I hear a story about a baby being born into the toilet I know just how that can happen. If it weren't for that nurse it would have happened to me.
