R.N. positions in Southern California

If I were you I would seriously consider taking a travel nurse position to get where you want to go. There is a lot of money to be made traveling in California, plus if you use a good company, they will reimburse your license cost, give you travel money, plus find you a free private apartment and pay utilities except phone. That way you are only commited for the length of your contract if you hate the place.

Traveling is wonderful. If nurses new how great it was, no one would stay a staff nurse:D

There are some good companies around. PPR is mine, and Vanessa Donaldson is my recruiter. HRN is great, RN Network, Bridge Staffing, and there are plenty more. Check over on delphiforums at the Travel Nurse and Therapists message board.

Just curious Amy,

How much do you make travelling? And do the recruiters or the hospital find you a place to live and would dogs be allowed?

Your travel company finds your housing or you can elect to take a subsidy and find your own. Lots of travelers take their pets, so dogs wouldn't really be a problem. But you may have to pay your pet deposit at your apartment.

As far as how much travel nurses make, that really varies with the area of the country, the speciality, and travel company you work for and their benefits. But you can do so much better tax wise by traveling, plus get to see places on someone else's dime. I believe most travel nurses are making mid-20 to mid-30 dollars per hour- again, that really depends on the area of the country. California and New England pay more than the Southeastern part of the country.

Thanks Amy. I was thinking about doing this in a year or so to save some money to go back to school. California would be nice... No SARS, no real winter.....sigh....
