New Grad Looking For Opinions!!

  1. 0 Hey Everyone,
I just finished my training into the NICU as a new grad.. However i was trained using the university of indiana online training and it was not very interactive and i felt like i was always having to refrence the core ciriculum book i have.. I was just wondering if any of you know about or have studied using any other program? Or even great books ect!! Look forward to hearing back!!!Thank you!!

The best way to learn is on-the-job training. We hire new grads all the time and train them to be NICU nurses. I have not heard of the online training you speak of.
That being said, I recommend Merenstein and Gardner's Handbook of Neonatal Intensive Care as a resource to compliment your training in the NICU.
    Best of luck to you!

Totally agree with karnicurnc, that's a great book and also just on the job is the best way to learn. I bought a few books as a keener going into NICU as a new grad but honestly, I never even used them. I found the best way is to ask your fellow nurses and look up the policies when you need. Best of luck!
