by NICUfuture? Dec 3, '11I have a few questions regarding becoming an R.N. in the NICU. 1. Do you go through more in school if you want to work in the NICU? 2. Can I have an MSN and still work in the NICU for somewhere like OU Children's Hospital? Can someone please give me as much information as possible on this? I am going to enroll in Cameron University, and graduate from OU Nursing program. I just want to go all the way in school by going as long as I can, but having had a premature child, the NICU is the only place for me.Last edit by Joe V on Dec 6, '11 : Reason: formatting for easier reading

Many of us have a simple ADN and work as RNs in a NICU.I have a few questions regarding becoming an R.N. in the NICU. 1. Do you go through more in school if you want to work in the NICU? 2. - Jan 5, '12 by dawnebethI have a two year degree and had never seen a premature baby when I started at our level 3 ICN--but we have a great 12 week training course (for all nurses, not just new grads) who are hired. I felt like I had never been in nursing school before, but I knew I belonged with the babies. It was scary and intense and I learned a lot very quickly.
I'm still here 24 years later!
