I am fourteen and really want to volunteer at a nearby hospital. They have a whole other building for pediatrics, and this building has a NICU in it. On their website it says that volunteer opportunities include NICU volunteer. I'd love to do this so I could be in the NICU, where I want to work when I'm an RN. However, do you think that they would let someone my age be a NICU volunteer? I know that it wouldn't be a lot of patient contact, so I don't think age should really matter, but I was looking here and it seemed like lots of people who were NICU volunteers were older.
So, what do you think? Do I have a shot at NICU volunteer? Thanks so much! :heartbeat

You could call the volunteer office and ask. I know where we work we don't take the teens in the ICUs and they have to be 16. It is usually for community hours for graduation so they place them in the Ronald McDonald house area.

Okay, thank you! I think I'll just ask when I go in for my volunteer interview. Thanks again for your input!

We get teen volunteers in the summer that help the secretaries with papers, answering the phone, unloading boxes. Good luck!
